It's impossible to make a top 10 list without hurting somebody's feelings. You had mentioned them, and I like both groups, but they wouldn't rank in my quintessential list unless I was sighting Kraftwerk for early works that influenced everything, or Daft Punk for French House. Though honestly, I've never really known what made Daft Punk stand apart from the crowd, other than the big helmets. They sound like really good house, but somehow they became the leaders in that genre.

I recently got the remaining 3 of the mainline Boards of Canada album releases from Amazon MP3 (I had Tomorrow's Harvest already) so I can listen to them on my Kindle tablet.

Oscar See Through Red Eye -- funny how you hear so much by them, and then forget exactly which one it was.

There's a story about the Human League when they were first getting started. Because they were arty college types they wanted to do a gig entirely electronically: that is preset a tape player and synthesizer to play all their songs while they watched from the audience.

Took about 2 minutes before the crowd caused a riot.

Now it's the norm. How times change.

Looooove BOC. The Campfire Headphase is one of my favorite albums of all time. Music Has The Right to Children is, of course, up there as well.

It's crazy how much BOC samples and backmasks. There's a wiki out there that shows nearly all they've done to their songs. It's interesting to go a little bit deeper into them that way.

I know of Ulrich, this one I find to be good. It was so good, Axl Rose of GnR sampled it for this off Chinese Democracy without permission, and then got promptly sued by Ulrich and his label.
