The Superman 80s arcade game is pretty great.
A lot of the Justice League handheld games are actually really good, too.

But, it's just like marvel, in the 80s and 90s X-Men and Spider-Man where where the licensing were at, those are the games that got made.
Batman and Superman was where it was at for DC, so those are the games that got made.
(Not in comics, but in licensing)

It's only been in the last 6 years that has started the change, but the game licensing machine has died down.

Would a DC list be dominated by Batman games just like a Marvel list is dominated by X-Men games? Of course! But are there any other games besides Batman games that are any good on DC's end? The answer is yes.

I'd never heard of this. It looks bizarre but appealing in the way Data East games often do.

On the Batman talk, I think it's a case that Marvel games tend to be generally of better quality than DC games, but some Batman games aren't just good licensed games, they are some of the best games available for their systems. I agree DC has not utilised their properties well in gaming though. There isn't a single Wonder Woman game for instance. That's not on.

My list:
Marvel Super Heroes
Any Vs Capcom game
X-men Arcade
X-men Legends 2 (Quiz questions!)
Marvel Ultimate Alliance (More quiz questions!)
The Punisher (Capcom)
Wolverine Origins
Spider-Man 2

Capcom and Marvel were made to be together. Imagine a Saturn beat'em up with the Marvel Super Heroes engine and a larger roster. Somewhere in the multiverse that game exists.

Totally not trolling, serious on both counts.

Ang Lee's Hulk is easily the most compelling Marvel film visually and, as a self-contained narrative, it has few peers in the genre. Maybe if I was a comic book guy I'd not like it for some reason or another (OMG not-canon WTF?!?), but the actors bring more humanity to their roles than one typically finds in comic book films and the movie just offers a really compelling take on the green guy.

The 2003 game I played on PC, where I think it outshines the console version quite a bit. I consider it one of the best movie-based games of the past 10 years or so (along with Wolverine Origins) and enjoyed it more than the better-loved Ultimate Destruction. That game was ok too, but a bit too much "fetch-quest" parading as "open-world" for my tastes. It was also more repetitive than the previous game.

I'm just ribbing your ribs. I like Ang Lee's Hulk as well. It's kind of surreal at times and I think it gets to the emotional core of the Hulk character. I much prefer it to the abomination featuring the Abomination, canon be damned. The Hulked out poodle was laughable though.

I had read that the game was bollocks. Maybe I'll give it a shot.

I am glad someone else has played this. I spent a fair bit of time with that game in the 1980s and 1990s, and I really enjoyed it.

I agree completely. Ang Lee's Hulk is easily the most interesting of the Marvel movies.

.....

Count me in the "Ang Lee Hulk is the superior Hulk movie" camp. However that is NOT counting Avengers (which has the best Hulk, IMO). I like Ed Norton, he just never fit the Banner mold for me and the Incredible Hulk movie just felt flat overall. Oh yes, and Jennifer Connelly > Liv Tyler, all day every day.

Anyways, my Top 10 Marvel games (I'm a Marvel comic collector):

X-Men Legends 2 (PS2)- Being that I'm an X fan, I enjoyed this game more than Ultimate Alliance.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance (PS2)- A close second; great game. You won't see the sequel to this on my list. What a let down that was.

X-Men Arcade- Probably my favorite Beat 'em up game of all time. It has a great cast of characters to play as (Cyclops and Nightcrawler being my favorites).

X-Men Origins: Wolverine (PS3)- This game was a blast! You actually felt like Wolverine wrecking shit. Having holes blown through you and then watching them heal up was entertaining.

X-Men Legends (PS2)- I had fun with this. Although I didn't like the fact they went with a more "Ultimate Universe" version with a lot of the character costumes.

X-Men (Genesis)- Loved this game as a kid. Super tough though.

X-Men 2: The Clone Wars (Genesis)- I didn't get to play this as much as the first one, so when I get my Retron 5 I'll hit this again. What little of it I did play back in the day was fun. I liked they added Beast (even though I hate the character) and Psylocke.

Spiderman 2 (PS2)- I played this after the movie came out like many people and I remember being surprised about how good it was. I had fun swinging around the city and saving people.

X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse (SNES)- I have this and need to play this more.

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (PS3)- I'm not a big fighting game fan, but this was fun. Great cast of characters to choose from.

as far as games i've played the most:

X-Men (Arcade)
X-Men (Genesis)
Spider-Man/Venom: Maximum Carnage (Genesis)
Superman (Genesis) (loosely based on the arcade game, i think? don't quote me on that)
Marvel Super Heroes (Arcade)

i enjoyed the game based on the 2002 Spider-Man movie for gamecube, but didn't play it a lot.

I'm quoting you anyway. :P

I'm actually not sure if it's officially based on the Taito arcade game either but it is pretty similar.
