I'm totally with you guys about GX. I really liked it, but it's Dante Must Die mode from like, the second level and on. Insane.

I want to say I remember Star Wars Episode 1 Pod Racer being similarly brutal, after a long ways into the game (that game was freaking long and massive for a racer, never finished it either).

I like the SNES F-Zero the most. It was one of the first things I played on the system, which I actually was playing on a Super Famicom before the American SNES was released. It felt so amazingly cool back then and while it's a great game in its own right, that edge of nostalgia nudges it into the number one spot for me.

I don't know how popular/unpopular this opinion is but....

I am very skeptical about "new gaming technologies" like VR and streaming services. For one thing there are significant obstacles in the way of mainstream adoption of either or both technologies. Plus it's not like traditional gaming hardware is unaffordable.

As far as streaming services go, the outcome of the net neutrality struggle will determine a lot. Even so, data caps are very prevalent on ISPs in the US - and even if the groups who are in favor of net neutrality win out, which is by no means certain, data caps will still exist without more regulaion than ISPs in America currently experience.

But maybe I'm just getting to be a grumpy old gamer...

A technology will always become popular as long as it offers something new that it does well.

Digital distribution was so successful because it was much more convenient than physical media. 3D TV (and VR) failed and will keep on failing no matter how much companies try to push it, because it's just too uncomfortable for the end user to be something they would like to do all the time.

And on streaming services I just don't see it becoming cost effective when it comes to modern games, but for old console/arcade games it would be perfect.

Colors was great. It felt like after a thousand tries they finally got it right. Eggman's lines are also genuinely funny which is a plus. Generations was also quite good. I don't know what happened after that. Apparently they filled their decent Sonic game quota.

Related unpopular opinion: I don't think the Sonic 4 games are nearly as bad as people say.

A lot of what is said in this thread is not unpopular opinion.

Here's a genuinely unpopular opinion: I just flat-out dislike every mario kart game. I've played Mario kart on the SNES, N64, Gamecube, GBA, DS, and wii. I don't think I really enjoyed any of them, which is odd because I like racing games. I think it's just kart racers I dislike. I don't like Crash Team racing or Diddy Kong racing either.

I thought Sonic 4: Episode 1 was okay but nothing amazing. Episode 2 is pretty dire though. There's some awful level and boss design, and the music is close to unlistenable.

I'm not a fan of Sonic Colors either. I much prefer Generations which I thought was the best platformer on the 360 until I played Rayman Origins. Still a great game though. Why Sega didn't just give us Generations 2 before they started tinkering again is a bit beyond me. But then Sega have made confounding decisions their company policy.

Edit: Rayman Legends is what I meant. They're both excellent though.

I'm with you there. I'm not the biggest fan of Colors either (although it's far better than the shit that came before it), but Generations was awesome. And I wish they could have done a Generations 2 as well, because there were so many levels I wish they could have included and didn't.

Also, Rayman Legends is one of my favourite platformers of all time.

I beat Generations, so it was okay I guess. But nothing that special to me. What do you guys think I'd make of Colors?

I try not to be that anti-post-Genesis Sonic hater guy, but seriously, I can't even really say I liked the Adventure games. I just can't get into modern Sonic at all.
