Bungie's Destiny - Racketboy Meetups
Re: Bungie's Destiny
It's great to hear that everyone enjoys this one so much. The entire web seems to be just beaming with praise for the beta, which hopefully means the game will sell like hotcakes and have a long shelf life/frequent updates/etc. It should also mean that we could potentially get some regular RB things going if enough people get it on the same platform. I've added a poll...

Re: Bungie's Destiny
I played it for about an hour the other day, just enough to get to the real missions. Been playing about another hour now and, eh I dunno. I was so excited when I found the ??? aliens that beat my ass, because it reminded me a lot of exploring in Fallout 3, but the more I walk around the more it just seems all the same.
Maybe I need to clear a few missions and go somewhere new, but I'm already getting tired of killing the same Halo-like enemies. Also, the scenery is pretty amazing but it just seems like there's nothing to do but admire it while you're walking and fight every once in awhile. There was a really cool area with a bunch of fallen airplanes that you could walk through.....with nothing in them. You find places to walk through off the beaten path and there's nothing to pick up. It also annoys me that your character model doesn't change much when you pick up new stuff. I found a helmet that's supposedly blue and orange yet I still have the same paint job on my character with no way that I know of to change it.
Still very early, but my excitement has waned at least for the moment.

I voted 360 for you. If I buy the game I'll get it on Xbox one. The vote stats should be fine now.

Thanks very much.

Re: Bungie's Destiny
you should be able to change your vote.
Are you changing your gear in the character screen and/or getting it ready first by taking it to the dude who "translates" them or whatever at the Citadel Tower?

I've done both. I should retract that statement somewhat I guess. There are slight changes to your look they're just not very mentionable so far at least for me. I've had some decoded or whatever by the guy in the Tower.

Re: Bungie's Destiny
I think it depends on the item. Some are purely color changes but I have noticed that some pieces change your appearance quite a bit.
Loving this game, I've played several characters to cap already and just want to keep going. I hope they can keep a steady flow of content going. I also wonder if they will add space battles at some point. It kind of feels like they're setting that up to happen.
My only complaint would have to be group sizes. It looks like three is the standard but I'd really prefer four. Not a huge deal, but it's too bad.

Re: Bungie's Destiny
Hit the level cap last night. Level 8 seems a bit stingy to me, but whatever it did take about 6 hours play and now I can try a different class. That last mission was altogether hectic in the best possible way. That I already have a burning hatred of servitors is a good indication of how good this game is.
I gathered myself and four friends to test out the fireteams. Bit put off that a fireteam can only hold three people, at least for the moment. It'd be fine if say we could split into two groups and travel together but we couldn't. That meant we were essentially shouting over the top of each other for about three hours.
We all had fun but I wanted us to meet up and compare avatars at Starbase. Simple stuff. A three player limit seems a bit, well, limited after Borderlands, GTA, Halo etc. Four player minimum is like an industry standard even for console.
Didn't try out the "deathmatch" stuff yet though. Too busy exploring caves for loot and punching Magicians into nothingness. I know that mode is 6 player + though.
Another slight worry is enemy leveling. It seems all over the place and I'm not 100% on what affects it. I was ok, but having a couple of lower level players in tow meant quick deaths aplenty. Poor guys.
Overall though I am extremely impressed by the game. Even on 360 it feels next gen. There isn't anything amazingly new about it: Bungie have basically smashed the best parts of Halo, Borderlands and Mass Effect together. It just all works so well. And, it has that cross market appeal; I play it because I like FPS', my friend plays it because he's into MMO's, another likes dungeon crawlers, and so on.
/TLDR Super excited for the release but we need less stingy fireteams.
