Laptops usually need more cleaning out than desktops since everything is so cramped and the fact they're moved around all the time and not always used on hard surfaces. If a fan starts running more often, it probably needs a clean.
Alright guys I need some advice/technical help as I'm in the process of trying to figure out some things to change around in my current build. Mainly I'm looking at a new case, the Corsair air 240 seen here. I am going to need a new motherboard since it is a matx/itx only. Are there any issues I will run into? I mean do I just plop my cpu in the mobo, hook up the hard drives and then plug everything in and I'll be good to go or do I need to change things up and do a fresh install of windows on my boot drive? Is there anything else I should be worried about that I don't know to ask yet?
I have already decided on a mobo and I think the only thing I need to figure out is getting a laminate sticker of the number pad of a microwave to put on the window of the case.

Sounds good. Not looking forward to the eventuality of moving things I need and what not to my HDD but I also realize that I will end up with a ton more space on my solid state and it will be a good learning experience. I can't wait for all the extra desk space I'll end up with after swapping cases.
I actually ended up finding a guy on craigslist that had built a PC about a year ago and was selling it - along with Windows 8.1 and a monitor.
It's got a FX-8320, a GTX 660, and a 80+ bronze PSU all strapped to a Gigabyte motherboard.
It's obviously not the fanciest thing in the world but it's a pretty big upgrade for me and I would not have been able to build the same PC myself for what I paid for it.
I really appreciate all the advice I received in this thread and wanted to give a bit of an update.
