I'm pretty sure a guy who got all the trophies for Under Defeat can hack it.
Oh, the first phase of Metroid Prime. So...the armored version I believe? I tried him about 3 times last night and was able to get him to the 4th phase of his 1st phase (i.e. he went underground 4 times). The Wave buster really busted (pun intended) him up. But, alas, I ran out of missiles quickly and his damn ice trail really iced me (ugh, sorry...pun #2).

I think I could eventually do it with 160 missiles, but the amount of frustration to get there would be great. So I may actually suck it up and just go back and find all the missile upgrades. I really want to finish the game.

And about that Under Defeat plat....you know there is a way to enable free play, right? My shmup skills aren't that great to get that plat without free play.

Oh. I'm sad now. Just so you know you can beat the Armored Prime without missiles (it'd be pretty badly designed if you couldn't). Never use the flamethrower. Ever. Normal Plamsa shots are good enough. That said you don't need missiles for the boss following so go nuts if you want. Just for the love of god, don't use the flamethrower!

I looked it up to be sure and have found guides insisting you need all the missile tanks and everything. This is incorrect.

On a similar note, I looked up a boss I got stuck with in Skies of Arcadia and one of the answers was to start the game again! People get crazy when they can't beat a boss. Patience and skill is all you need.

Also how do you unlock freeplay in Under Defeat?

Or in the case of JRPGs like SoA; copious grinding.

Actually, in this instance, grinding wouldn't have helped. Probably why peoples first instinct was to rip it up and start again.

Don't be sad, Sload. Here, take this:
Under Defeat Free Play
"This step is optional but it's very much recommended if you want it as easy as possible. The longer you play the game in one mode the more credits you will be given for that mode. After playing the game for 8 hours you will have unlocked infinite credits. You don't actually need to be playing. You can pause the game and go do something else like sleeping. Since there are two modes, new order mode and arcade mode, you will "have" to do this for both modes. Remember to exit back to the main menu after pausing the game for 8 hours for the game to save that you've played it for 8 hours."

Which boss is this? I beat this game about two years ago, and I don't remember any of the bosses being particularly difficult.

It was the first Gigas. The one that looks like four derpy looking heads glued onto a stool. He knocked me down because I wasn't firing at the right time. I went online for a bit of help and one guy on Gamefaqs was all like "It's impossible without secondary cannon, start again". It's like those people who get stuck in the water temple and restart their game. Daft buggers.
