What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?
Re: What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?
Woohoo! It was only a matter of time. But I think the notoriety is a mixed bag -- the UP is a best kept secret and it should stay that way. It'll always be home to me.

Yooper is now an officially recognized word by Websters. Congratulations - you've earned it.

Need FreeMCboot? I'll install it on your PS2 Memory Card for free if you cover postage both ways.
Consoles: I have too much stuff
Arcade: No seriously, I have too much stuff. Someone grab a shovel and dig me out of my basement.

Fair warning, long and potentially boring post if you aren't interested in the relevant topic. Maybe even if you are.samsonlonghair wrote: I take it you mean Greenville, SC not Greenville, NC. I'm thinking about living a bit closer to the coast.
Richmond, VA is a city I have considered for my future. I have visited Richmond once or twice already. The economy there seems to be thriving. It's on the Chesapeake watershed, but not the bay proper. By the way, is the James River a viable transportation option? This may seem silly, but I might enjoy taking a boat to work every morning.

Re: What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?
Congrats!
I seriously have no idea how I would be able to survive if I lost my job tomorrow. I never really carry much debt, but I also never really have much savings (TRYING to fix that, but man there's just so many games to buy
)... I suppose I'd have to start selling parts of my collection if I couldn't get at least a part time minimum wage job after the first month or two (I'd like to say I could survive longer but man... car lease + mortgage will annihilate what little savings I have in MAX 2 months. Really gotta work on that)
Fortunately for me though, I have a union job for the government, I always cross my t's and dot my i's, and there's many people below the totem pole for me if they started downsizing (which, in emergency services, ain't likely to happen). In over 3 years, I have gotten a whopping 1 dark mark on my record, and it was from a co-worker (who is known to be a pain, and not like anyone) complaining to a supervisor that she was "offended" by something I said to another co-worker that she overheard. No issues with work performance, no issues from the supervisors, nothing. So the chances of my getting canned are pretty minimal.

Gunning for a licensed NES NTSC-U set, follow the madness and poverty here!
Cheat sheet of my collection, always looking to increase it. 405/677 licensed games, 46/"95" unlicensed

Smile: All in all I raised and received $150 in free groceries for the museum.
Frown: That money could have been spent more cost effectively. They simply wouldn't listen to reason (me). Peach juice in a glass jar for $5.00, when they could have bought superior Peach nectar for $1.50 from the "Mexican" aisle. Waste of money.
And the reason? Get this...
I was told, "Some of the people in the museum are food snobs".
Heller. People who don't even know me call me a food snob, and I know nectar vs "juice" is better, and I know less preservatives are usually better. Oh well, let them waste money.
Smile: Going to be balling tonight. Melon balling. My wife will be helping, and we have some records set aside to play as we've got at least 85 balls to be prepared for tomorrow. Can't wait to share pics of the event as I'll be dressed to the sevens, and my wife will be dressed to the nines. High heels and a cocktail dress? Hubba hubba.
For clarification my wife will be in the high heels and dress. I will don a charcoal suit, black tie, french cuffs and cuff links. And shoes. Tie clip. I'm still undecided if I should wear pants.
Smile: $50 gift card from Men's Warehouse. New set of cufflinks here I come.
