Web Developers/Designers Needed!

Post by masonyes »

Do you like Craigslist? Hate ebay? Want a better website to sell your video games? And more? Or to buy them free and sell them without costs?
I am interested in developing an Ebay Alternative that would be similar to some of the start-ups like Chasethechuck wagon and Dawdle but with the huge selling incentive of being 100 percent free. If you're interested in a job or a new project let me know.

PM or leave a post if interested.
You know that story, about how NASA spent millions of dollars developing this pen that writes in Zero G? Did you ever read that?
You know how the Russians solved the problem?
They used a pencil.

What exactly would you contribute to this 'idea'?

Currently I'm majoring in Economics at Umass Amherst and my sales/marketing experince contributes to the bottom line. Also I am the contributor of the idea itself, which is cash cow of the premise. Also I would handle all the business aspects and marketing, as well as pitching the idea to vc firms in new york city and boston.
So if you're interested in taking a gamble which only involves your time, please let me know.

I can't reveal the idea because it would undermine the entire endeavor, however it is currently used in other industries and no one has made the connection yet to transfer it to online business.

Your proposition might carry some credibility if you had been a member of this forum longer than two months.

Two things....

1) This is a VERY hard market to break into. I've seen a bunch of sites trying to do this will little success. It's all amount how many eyeballs you have. eBay and Amazon own this space. I don't care if its niche or not. Sellers aren't going to sell their big items on there unless there are lots of bidders to drive up prices.

2) With all due respect to the members of this forum, if you want to take this seriously, you should be looking for designers in places that are more suited to high-end design. Example:

My two cents -- best of luck!

Also I have excellent feedback from selling on this site and on ebay. It's not a niche market, it's going for the overall market. Similar to ebay and amazon; also the main reason most of the start-ups have failed, because they have nothing to bring to the table. They offer poor designs with fees similar to ebay.
Remember my site will be completely free, and due to the business model, which like I said before is the cash cow, sellers will instantly already be on the site. Which will drive future buyers, and futher sellers, network economics expediated. The reason I posted on this site, is to attract a high end web designer. I don't want a site with poor presentation similar to the start-ups, but one with the same professional appeal and gloss of the majors(ebay, amazon, et cetra).

Well best of luck then.
I've just seen too many people with a simple idea get too excited too early. If you've thought it through and have an original idea, most power to you.

Innovation is why I believe my business will be a sucess, and like I said all you have to do is donate your time. Also I already have 2 interested parties; one is a web devloper and the other is a database designer; so you would have a team to work with.
