How's Your Sega MegaDrive/Genesis Gaming Going On?
Re: How's Your Sega MegaDrive/Genesis Gaming Going On?
Been playing streets of rage lately. Such a great game. With what was left of my credit I got tecmo super bowl 1 and 3 and maximum carnage. Fun games for the genny.
Re: How's Your Sega MegaDrive/Genesis Gaming Going On?
I have been playing - Streets Of Rage 3 , Pink Goes To Holywood , Bio Hazard Battle and Battle Squadron.
Pink Goes To Holywood actualy looks real good but is quite annoying to play as it is one of those platformers where you need to jump from the platform edge but he slips off and drops down the level if you do not get it right, after a while it just gets too much to take and I decided to go back to SOR3 lol.

What's this very nearly shit?pierrot wrote:The Genesis is very nearly my favorite console.
I just don't have a great deal of interest in these "How's your _____ Gaming Going?" threads. They seem superfluous, and a bit silly to me.
The "How's Your ____ Gaming Going?" threads are nice for when you want to briefly mention the game your playing without having to make a new (and probably short-lived) thread or have it lost in the Random Gaming Thoughts Thread.mjmjr25 wrote:The "how's it going" and "name your top" threads are miserable. BUT, when you can develop a focused offshoot thread - that is cool. The DC threads we have going now are pretty active, fun, and informative.
mjmjr25 wrote:However, my primary reason has always been a physical reason. The SNES cart is bigger and feels more substantial than the GEN cart. The SFC cart is prettier, sturdier and just cooler than the flimsy MD cart.
I really don't get these posts (and others) about the cartridges. They're just plastic casings which protect a PCB. Besides, all of the 4th generation cartridges pale in comparison to the Neo Geo AES cartidges.BoneSnapDeez wrote:The black plastic of the Genesis carts is flimsy and cheap. Can't stand it.
So the feeling of playing a Genesis involves a Sega Genesis?pierrot wrote:Playing games on the Genesis makes me feel like a dude with a jet-pack blasting off to my volcano fortress, which houses my fleet of Lamborghinis with anti-land-shark harpoons mounted on the sides, and a projection display in the wind shield for the Genesis console mounted in the dash.
Also, fucking sigged.

Went to my retro store and i saw something really funny. For the snes they were charging 40.00 for rock n roll racing and 15.00 for the genesis port. Looks like im getting the genesis port friday.
Love how the prices on the genesis is still 3 times cheaper than the snes port of the same game.

I quoted this because it is awesome.pierrot wrote: I only have an SFC now, and haven't owned an SNES since I was 11; so I can only really speak to the SFC, but I feel like I'm playing with a toy with that thing. It plays a fine game, but everything about its design looks and feels primitive and childish to me. Yeah—
Also, I have been beating my head against the wall that is Mega Turrican lately. Geez that game is hard for someone who sucks at run'n'guns.

been getting a lot of genesis time in. been playing the ninja turtles, streets of rage trilogy, jewel master and madden 92. will be finally getting sunset riders, and mutant league football.
I was trying to get back into the wii but the genesis has taken over. I really love this system. It's such a great system.

It requires a lot of platforming skills which is probably why I find it a pretty manageable compared to a lot of games in the genre. It's my favorite Turrican game personally which I'm sure will earn me scorn from fans of the originals. I just really love the graphical style and refinements they made to the gameplay. I really dig the bad-ass box art as well.marlowe221 wrote:Also, I have been beating my head against the wall that is Mega Turrican lately. Geez that game is hard for someone who sucks at run'n'guns.
Jewel Master is really a hidden gem. I don't consider it a fantastic game but it's got interesting mechanics. At the very least I'll honestly take it over Altered Beast.mas wrote:been getting a lot of genesis time in. been playing the ninja turtles, streets of rage trilogy, jewel master and madden 92. will be finally getting sunset riders, and mutant league football.

My Genesis is always getting play time these days. I've had it modded for S-Video, Overclock, Component and Region switches. I also have a SCART cable and a SCART to HDMI adapter for my TV. Also have an Everdrive cart which comes in handy for rare and insanely expensive games...

Haven't touched my Genny in awhile but I had a copy of Contra Hard Corps get traded in my shop yesterday. Time to hook up the X'eye and start throwing lead everywhere.
