Yeah, and it feels a lot like Hook too. I'm pretty sure they just tweaked the Hook engine to make Skyblazer. And, oh yeah, added a password system!

SNESdrunk, have you ever played Hook? If not, stop what you're doing right now and play it. It's a great platformer, and I know you'd appreciate the music. It has some great music. Some borrowed from the movie, and some original. Like the snow stage.

It definitely feels like it has most of the same guts as Hook.

I usually stay far away from licensed games like that so no, never played it. I will now though, thanks

It might be a hidden gem. It's definitely a solid platformer. I think you'll like it. The only complaint I could come up with for it is the lack of a password or save system, but the game isn't long.

Just recently discovered SNESdrunk while looking up "Best SNES songs" on YouTube to play at work (Ah, the joys of working at a game store that specializes in retro games) and I just wanted to say I've been enjoying all of your reviews man!

The SNES is probably my favorite system of all time, so it's nice seeing someone who specializes in reviewing games for it. I've definitely learned a bit about some games that I've overlooked in my many years of playing the system. Look forward to whatever you've got coming in the future.
I sell video games and video game accessories.

This is another one of those games I saw go for next to nothing, then suddenly someone screamed, "SNES HIDDEN GEM!" and the price shot up past $30-$40 for a loose cartridge.

That aside, I love Run Saber. It feels good, it's got loads of style even if most of it is derivative, and the co-op is a lot of fun.

I bought it years ago on a whim for a few bucks, not even knowing what it was. I was really pleasantly surprised!

As far as straight-up action games go on the SNES it's one of the most smooth and solid. There are a lot of aspects I prefer in Run Saber over Strider but it doesn't have enough of its own character and identity when comparing it to that game. Strider focused a lot on art given that it had a manga and everything to go along with it. Run Saber has a lot of cool art and situations itself but it feels like a disjointed universe of random video game scenarios (even if ridiculous stuff like the jet fighter fight is amazing).

The length and lack of difficulty are really the main things holding it back, but to anyone who might think Strider is a tad too hard or clunky this game would be perfect.

Do you only review SNES games? I'd love to see some import SFC reviews, I could give you a few suggestions if you needed.

Yeah that's in the works, stuff like Iron Commando, Twinbee Rainbow Bell Adventure and Majuu Ou are some games I'd like to do. There's still a TON of SNES games I'd like to get to as well, everything from EarthBound to Super Tennis to Doom. I'd love to do Genesis stuff eventually too, namely Gunstar Heroes and Kid Chameleon.
