So I was at a local game shop by me this weekend when I noticed they'd gotten a handful of new Dreamcast games in. The prices were fairly reasonable, about average ebay price, maybe a bit less.
So I bought them.
I picked up:
Shenmue for £19.99
Shenmue 2 for £29.99
Grandia 2 for £9.99
They also had Marvel vs Capcom for £7.99 but I didn't pick that one up. I'm sure a few of you will be upset with that decision, but I'm afraid I'm just not a Capcom fighting game fan
How is your Dreamcast gaming going on?

I've seen very low end auctions hitting a bit less than the prices on Shenmue 1 (and to a lesser extent 2), but they certainly seem a solid £10 or so less than eBay auctions on average (even more below Buy It Now)
Grandia 2 is definitely a good chunk below eBay price.
Re: How is your Dreamcast gaming going on?
£19.99 is around $35, which is just about what Shenmue is going for on eBay in the US these days, although if you're lucky you may find one for around $25-$30. Of course when I got mine in 2005, it was a different story ($10.50 or £6)alienjesus wrote:I picked up:

£29.99 is about $50, which is what I paid for my imported PAL copy of Shenmue 2 at the end of 2011, which is still low-end these days. NTSC-J copies are cheaper than the PAL version.

Wow. I'm surprised Shenmue is going for $35.00 even in the US. Just back in Fall 2013 I actually won an auction for it really cheap.
Skies of Arcadia is probably at 70ish now I bet.

That's awesome AlienJesus. The copy of Shenmue II is a great find. It's hard to find here unless you get lucky on an auction. I saw one copy at a local game store but I doubt the owner was going to let it go for a price that would be reasonable. He knew what he had.
Great snags though!

According to VGPC, Shenmue jumped at the beginning of the year to its current average.sp957 wrote:Wow. I'm surprised Shenmue is going for $35.00 even in the US. Just back in Fall 2013 I actually won an auction for it really cheap.

Skies of Arcadia is around $45-$55 complete now. Not quite 70 yet

Maken X is actually a pretty cool game. The level structure feels something like Mirror's Edge--fairly linear. The combat is fluid and the game is surprisingly quick. It takes a little getting used to with only one thumbstick compared to the industry standard of two now, but if you can look past that and the so-bad-it's-good dialogue and story, it's a quality game.
Re: How is your Dreamcast gaming going on?
I echo the thoughts of the others here that these prices seem okay, an ex-girlfriend has both my Shenmue games (I presume so anyway) and it has been around twelve years so they could of either been passed down to one of her younger bros or hopefully she has them tucked away in a cupboard or something.alienjesus wrote:

I understand why you decided against the Marvel/Capcom/Street Fighter game but I own them because I think they can be fun if you fancy a quick adrenalin rush for 10 mins.
Re: How is your Dreamcast gaming going on?
So after a long time, I finally sat back down with Shenmue II for some time today. I'm still enjoying it, but haven't gotten much farther. Still airing out books, but did some more investigating. Just did the backwards check mark cup thing and was assaulted in a park. Had to put it down when my girlfriend woke up from her nap though. It's not exactly thrilling for her when I'm playing a game in Japanese, since she doesn't understand it. Looking forward to getting stuck back in after a major revelation. I HAD NO IDEA I COULD SAVE ANYWHERE. I spent a long time thinking you could only save where you could sleep. That's going to make making progress much simpler as I can play in shorter spurts.
