Great episode. I liked the footage of the early 90's game store.
As for myself, I have tried to replace the caps in two Game Gears... and failed both times for various reasons
I found it was quite easy to softmod a Dreamcast using a Action Replay CDX disk after buying a lot of Japanese games, however.

I've heard Drakon does it to protect his work from being reverse engineered or some-such craziness.

Judging by the QUALITY of his work though...

Worrying about reverse engineering RGB mods is ridiculous. It's a mod, it'd be different if he invented some hardware. It's known information, the barrier is skill.

I've seen some of the stuff he's done, and it's not just hot glue problems. There'll be screws missing, and modules won't be placed in the case correctly. Stuff is kinda stuffed in. Sloppy is the only word that comes to mind, really.

Also, Hot glue isn't even a solid protection technique. You can cut through hot glue, it's not that hard. He can't even do that right? That makes it even worse. Saying he does it to combat reverse engineering makes the practice even worse.

Have you ever modded or repaired your console or had it done for you?

Yes, I opened up my fat version PS2 to clean the laser. Was really easy.

Also, great video. I had no idea of the scope of the modding that one can do to a console.

Yeah, a little is fine to keep things from moving or to tack a jumper wire to the board so it doesn't wander near a screw ehen putting things back together. You need some hot glue to stick in a screen for a Nomad swap. Holds it in, but just some spare spots and you can still pry it out if there's a problem down the road.

The only modding I've done is to my Super Nintendo and that is:

1) Removed the plastic tabs to play SFC games
2) Used hydrogen peroxide/oxyclean combo to de-yellow my console

I'm not good at wires, or hot glue, or soldering, or anything like that, because I kinda suck at doing those things, so no A/V mods, no capacitor fixes, nothing like that.

The SFC mod worked well, so I can play Super Famicom games on it. The de-yellowing mod......not as much. It's not as yellow as before but.....well, some people have the OG SNES, others have the SNES Jr., mine looks like it belongs to this guy:

About the actual video. This was really fun. Normally, I can take or leave Game Sack videos (I like them, overall), but this was a lot of fun.
