Chick Tracts

Anyone else have any feelings on these things? Personally, I love them and I couldn't tell you why. It's just.. it's like a vestige of the 50s that I can still find in my day to day life in the 21st century. They're just so over-the-top that I wonder who can take them seriously.

I just love finding them in odd places. When I was still working at GNC, I once found one stuffed behind product on the shelf as I was cleaning the shelf. I was once out for a walk on a local trail by Lake Ontario and found it on the ground. The latest one I found was hanging on a sign in the drivethru of McDonalds (don't judge, I wanted chicken nuggets!), I snatched that thing right up. This one (Party Girl) didn't even have a customized back with a local church or anything.

I don't want to see this thread turn into religion bashing, I'm not about that, just... like I say, these strike me as kinda quaint. Though I will say I was unaware that SPLC designates Chick Publications as a hate group. I can see how they'd do it I suppose, but I was unaware.

Anyone else like them? Or is this just me?

I don't get chick tracts, but I do get a ton of various christian tracks in my daily dealings with people. I have been given them while working by people who think I need them, have had them left on my car and I get them every time I am in a doctor's waiting room. The waiting room ones are always very nice people, but the ones who approach me while I am working are always, "You clearly need saving."

I need to do some readings from the various books I purchased while working at a christian book store. The store itself had nice people working there, but some of the items sold were sheer madness. I bought them for posterity, like the epic war going on between Our Lord and Savior Gandalf and the antichrist Harry Potter.

I have tons of spiritual warfare literature and manuals as well as books...truly remarkable stuff.

Know that I do not harbor any ill will towards christians in general, but the spiritual warfare stuff is out and out lunacy.
