I haven't been able to download any Steam games in a week

update: hooked up my laptop and registered my Steam acct. Am downloading games no problem (on wifi!). So.... this is not a network or ISP issue, but some kind of hardware issue on my PC it seems? Plz help.

yup, a pc issue. since you can download other things fine on that pc it must be some kind of firewall/block of steam in software or the OS or something

so fucking weird though. Disable firewall, disabled antivirus, etc just to see if I could get it working.

I'm not even sure how to trouble shoot from here?

I mean I'm desperate enough to just reinstall Win from scratch at this point and see if it helps, though I'm not entirely sure if I"m able to w/ the license isiolia sent me...

It could be a weird registry setting. Try making a new user profile and using Steam on there. Actually just had this happen at my job with a similar problem.

Did this problem start after you migrated your OS and whatnot to your SSD?

before doing a fresh install try booting from the install disc into repair mode.

beyond that, if you have a system restore backup from some time when it did work recently, you can try to use that (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/wind ... em-restore). That might fix a random registry foul up.

I thought of this, and was actually thinking I remember seeing an article on Steam Support about removing Steam settings from the registry. Was gonna try to find that again.

I thought of system restore too - though most of the points looked too recent. I guess it's worth a shot though before going nuts w/ other stuff.

Thanks for the tip on the repair mode - forgot that was on the disc.

If for some reason you can't do the repair, you can do a lesser check of Windows files.

Start > Programs > Accessories > Right click on Command Prompt and Run as Admin

SFC /SCANNOW

did this - found no errors.

Tried removing Steam registry entries, and reinstalling Steam. Didn't help.

My Win7 OEM disc doesn't have a repair option. Wondering if I should just do a clean install of Win7? I'm running out of ideas.

Have you tried blowing in your steam cartridge?

By cart you mean SD card I assume. I've been meaning to ask - is it possible to load more than one game per SD card or are these newer games too big? I'm using 64MB cards.
