That's the equivalent to saying "this is the best meal I've ever eaten at Denny's". Can't we give Dsh some real praise?

Good article.

I'm going to try to hit 100 games this year. Doesn't seem too unreasonable, given how short retro games tend to be. 400 in 4.5 years sounds tough tho, I may run out of stuff to play.

Rebeating Ys doesn't count.

Indeed. From the article:

"Don't spend much gaming time playing things you've already beaten."

Saying he wrote one of the best articles I have seen on a site as large, popular, and long lived as Kotaku is pretty damn good praise actually.

I think that's one of the biggest hurdles a person can overcome when trying to get through their backlog. Something I only managed to get over within the last year or so. If you're playing a game and not having any fun, just stop playing. It might feel like a waste if you spent $60 on something with a 12 hour long campaign that you never see the end of, but if you're not having fun then beating it isn't going to make it any less of a waste of money. You're better off spending that 12 hours playing a game you actually enjoy.

Great reading and great article, theres a lot of tips i learned from racketboy, it really helps to have some place to talk about the games when you are playing them.

I also like the section of portable games, i did have a psp but until now i didn't realize how great portable consoles are, sometimes i dont have the time at the night to hook up the consoles on the living room or someone is in there so i just grab the 3DS and start playing a game on that instead.

Congratulations on gettin the article on kotaku, i would stay away from the comment section.

Thanks for the kind words folks. I actually penned a brief follow-up piece given all the comments and questions over there, so we'll see if they run that.

Yeah, I agree. I had hoped the post would spark readers into sharing some other strategies and mentioning that this was helpful, and there's a lot of both :D . Still, I now understand why people say they "can't help but focus on the bad comments" when they write something with a lot of views/responses.
