Let me say congratulations good sir on the big 400! The article comes at a very coincidental time as my wife just yesterday came to me and said, "Make a reward system for me to complete video games," as she has the worst habit of getting to the end and never finishing them.dsheinem wrote:so...http://kotaku.com/how-to-beat-400-games ... 1607296068dsheinem wrote: On one other note, The Typing of the Dead is the 400th game I have beaten since starting to keep track in these threads back in 2010 (4.5 years). My system involves a wall chart, poker chips with labels on them and a big ass cookie jar.

Pretty sure I started one or two threads about gender and games, too. The signs were all there.

1. Ogre Battle - PS1
2. Diablo III: Reaper of Souls - PC
3. The Banner Saga - PC
4. Papers, Please - PC
5. Tactics Ogre LUCT - PSP (on Vita)
6. The Walking Dead Season 1 & 400 Days - PC
7. The Wolf Among Us - PC
8. Dragon Age: Origins - PC
9. Dragon Age: Origins Awakening - PC
This was a nice follow up to Origins. Felt like an old-school PC expansion pack. This one seemed like a smaller mini-sequel and tie-in story from DA:O and DA2. This one wasn't as challenging as DAO, but I liked the story and designs for the most part. This was a bit buggy which was annoying at times. Almost at the end of the game, I lost all of my main characters equipment due to a bug. There were also a few quest and item types bug I ran into.
What next? Hmmm, I could perhaps go straight into DA2 as it is fresh in my mind. But then I also risk burnout. I am still halfway through Ogre Battle 64 which I need to beat, and I also plan to get to Ys III for TRPG.

What a strange, masterful creation of a video game.
It's hard to imagine a puzzle game of all things to have a compelling story but that's exactly what Catherine offers. It's easy to see that it was done by the Persona team; there's a lot of influence easily visible from that series in here. It's just as outlandish, stylish, and polished as any of those games, although far shorter at about 14 hours. On the plus side, 9 or so endings are offered to those who wish to play through the game multiple times (which I would recommend). While the story is great, the puzzle solving really takes the cake. I never found it particularly difficult but the mechanics are clever and it's probably the best example of a strange puzzler we have had since Intelligent Qube way back on the PlayStation.
I ended up with the ending for those of you who have played the game before. I definitely see myself going back and getting all the endings over the next few months.

26. Savant: Ascent (Story Mode)
27. The Yawhg
Savant Ascent is more about the score attack than the story mode (which can be beaten in about 10 minutes). It's a platform-shooter from the makers of Owlboy:
Aqua Kitty is a Defender clone, Gigantic Army is a mech-shooter like Metal Warriors or Cybernator. The Yawhg is a choose-your-own adventure type thing. I played through it once, so I'm not sure if there are just more endings to see or if you can unlock something else on repeat plays.
Currently working on Intrusion 2 (the final boss is a bit of a nightmare) and Jamestown on Divine difficulty...

Re: Games Beaten 2014
Sonic 1: Painto Edition 2, with every Chaos Emerald.
Nice hack, though it seems like despite all that's different (hub worlds, palettes based on time of day, double jump), a huge bulk of the layouts (aside from some different and/or moved-around stuff) are the same. The music is mostly the same in the actual levels, with some changes (the Sonic 3 Invincibility Music, tracks for the hub worlds).
But it's kind of interesting that the bosses are fought in the hub worlds.
But what's the DEAL with Scrap Brain Zone Act 3?

19- Mario & Luigi: Bower's inside story (DS)
20- Siren: New Translation (PS3)
21- Super Princess Peach (Ds)
22- Warhammer 40.000: Space Marine (Ps3)
Now that's a high contrast. The most manly game you could ever think of and a 40k game beaten allmost at the same time.
Super Princess Peach:
Now as a tradicional nintendo game this is a platformer, but instead of just puttin princess peach in a SMB game they give her a bunch of habilities activated by the touch screen. There are 4 habilities in total and all of them are somewhat related to her mood, one makes her cry, other makes her angry, other makes her calm and the last makes her happy (insert women joke here). It is a bit funny making her go from sad to happy and then happy in a matter of seconds. The diferent moods of peach can help to beat some enemies, and even bosses, and some react to the enviorement; a good example will be making peach cry so her tears go to the floor and freeze said floor so you can move a block and make a road... you can also use her tears to make plants grow to the sky.
Despite having 3 diferent moods that react on the levels, one mood is just for healing, the level design could have been a bit better, you can just run trough the game with ease hittin the attack button once in a while, there re some tricky parts but are far between. There's also some Toad's in the game that you must rescue, and it is a must the game wont let fight bowser unless you got them all, and finding them is not that fun like finfing secrets in donkey kong or mario world. There are some clever examples of freeing toads in level you must use a turtle shell to go in a narrow way where you cant get in order to hit the box and free one, but 80% of them are just there and are very easy to find.
That's maybe the key word for the game, easy, not that a easy game is bad but i don't feel the need to go back and finish the extra levels, you get those after beating the game. I could recommend this game, but is not a must in my book.
Warhammer 40k: Space Marine
Let me make this one short. AWESOME GAME! I didnt expect to really enjoy this one but the combination of 3rd person shooter and simple hack n slash is really good. I think the best about it is how you feel using the weapon, each hit feels powerfull and the enemies explode in blood with the guns used. My most favorite was the jetpack where you can fly high in the sky and them fall down with the fury of the imperials over the evil orks.
The game can get a bit repetitive for some people but if you constantly change weapons when the game allows you, you can carry 4 and theres 4 diferent melee weapons, you will enjoy this game more.
