Ticked - I was on vacation last week and got sick on Saturday of the week. I got better and we cannonball ran it home and I was ok, until Sunday night and I got worse. Monday I was out of it, and then magically everything was better. I was great all week, until last night. And now, I am operating on about 2 hours of sleep, full of medicines, and just waiting for the work day to end so I can get home.

That sounds strikingly similar to my encounter with a norovirus earlier this year. It was harsh, and I hope that you feel better soon.

Atleast Ive got a wet weekend ahead of me, so I can just sleep through it. All my landscaping and gardening will have to be done next week.

- I ordered a used copy of Beyond: TS from Amazon thinking it would a standard copy and it turned out to be the steelbook w/ cover. I was thinking of returning it an picking one up off the forums because the price wasn't too fantastic but I guess I'll keep it know. Kind of a heads up to everyone else too.

There was a big thunderstorm last night with lots of forked lightning. I love a good storm.

Unfortunately, between the flashes and the heat I was kept up most of the night. Got maybe an hour and a half tops. Oh well. Sofa nap later.

Bit of a weird one this:

The day before last my I had a visit from a local councilor who wishes to be the MP for my area. As a registered Labour Party member she wanted to get some of my views and secure my vote at the upcoming hustings. She's a nice enough woman and I could agree with a lot of what she had to say, though that should be a given really. She used a bit too many pre-prepared slogans on me for my liking but I kind of expected that.

Much more worrying was her total inability to answer my simple questions on jobs, housing and healthcare. I'm no Jeremey Paxman or Jon Stewart (I dunno) but even I managed to corner her on a few key topics. Just to underline, this is a woman who will most likely be my local MP in one of the safest and most influential Labour seats in a potential government, and over a friendly cup of tea and a chat asking things like "what are you going to do to get more jobs into the area" had her stumbling over her lines. I would have thought you'd have plans in place before you stepped up for election? Or am I just being naive?

On top of that the party heads mandated the selection was to be female candidates only, against the wishes of a large number of party members. And on top of that the candidate with the second highest votes was essentially forced to abandon her campaign by head office via a shady bit of House of Cards style manuvering. My political jimmies are throroughly rustled.

Less than 6 hours away from the end of a 64 hour week.

I really want to go to the renaissance festival on Sunday, and I don't think I have anyone to go with me. All my friends have various legitimate excuses, and it's not really that fun to go alone, especially with the hour, hour and a half drive each way. If I'm going to be driving for a long way alone, I want it to be to go see my girl (who is also not available this weekend, which is a big )

Came home with a fat wallet today. Work went great although I very much dislike when people that come in 10 minutes before we close and then proceed to spend an hour chitchatting when we're all cleaned up and ready to leave.

Its nearly 3am and I should really go to sleep.

Every year it seems like I'm happier being alone and away from everyone. I try to convince myself people are basically good, then I see and meet all these people in real life and the majority of them are revolting to me. As I see it, almost everyone is basically awful, narcissistic, and arrogant. I basically just want to avoid every person, commitment to them, or interpersonal relationship at this point. I'd rather not go through the hurt of being backstabbed by people I have opened up to.

Now dogs. I love dogs. I miss having mine. Perhaps some day soon I can get myself another loyal little friend.

Every year it seems like I'm happier being alone and away from everyone. I try to convince myself people are basically good, then I see and meet all these people in real life and the majority of them are revolting to me. As I see it, almost everyone is basically awful, narcissistic, and arrogant. I basically just want to avoid every person, commitment to them, or interpersonal relationship at this point.

My rule of thumb is that I have to ask myself "Is this person my friend?", they're not. Drop them like ill fitting pants.

But having the right group of friends is key to my happiness. Getting together, doing things, going places, and more specifically making each other laugh can easily wipe away the stress of an entire week. Plus, in any time of need, they're there for me, and I'm there for them.

Smile: Just about a perfect Saturday morning. Going to the Fresh Market later to see if I can get ingredients for hors d'ouveres for the next Art Museum fundraiser for free. The Museum is non-profit so the donation would be 100% tax duck bill (that's from Full House).
