New Gaming Computer
Re: New Gaming Computer
Are you sure? I have always bought the standard power supply and so had my dad, who has a newer amd x2 computer. You have to remember, I'm not using any lights, any additonal fans or overclocking whatsoever. Also how many watts would i need for that set-up?
You know that story, about how NASA spent millions of dollars developing this pen that writes in Zero G? Did you ever read that?
You know how the Russians solved the problem?
They used a pencil.

The CPU, the video card, and the mobo are the 3 biggest power suckers. A few extra lights and fans won't really make a dent at all.
Generic power supplies are OK, but you have to buy them much higher rated. For example, a generic PSU rated at 450 watts will probably only reliably deliver 300 - 350 watts and will have a shorter lifespan than a brand-name, more expensive 350 watt PSU that delivers a proper 325 - 350 watts.
If you are in doubt as to the quality of a PSU, give it a heft. Heavy doesn't guarantee quality, but light guarantees a lack of quality.
