Does anyone have that official SNES controller for the Wii that was redeemable with Nintendo points (or whatever they're called)? I'm interested to know when using it with SNES VC games and SNES9x whether there is any input lag. Also, what in your opinion is a reasonable price for one of these brand new?
I have the SNES Mayflash adaptor for Wii but there is enough input lag for it to get on my nerves.

I have no idea, but thank you for noting the input lag on that Mayflash adapter. I was interested in one of those myself, but I couldn't find any information about the lag in my searches.
Re: Official SNES Controller for Wii: Lag?
RE Mayflash adaptor, for SNES, it feels like it varies from game to game. Super Mario World it's quite noticeable, DKC not really. Playing RPG's the lag, if even there, doesn't bother me. For NES it's more noticeable since you have another converter in between to change from 9-pin to 7-pin or whatever it is.
I'm just rearranging my TV shelf and trying to put as much in to storage as possible. If I could use the Wii for all my SNES games that would create some more space.
Perhaps throwing the guts from a classic controller into an empty SNES controller would work. Anyone tried this?

Re: Official SNES Controller for Wii: Lag?
The controller from points is just a classic controller stuffed in an SFC shell. While I haven't used it with any emulators I did use it for my Muramasa playthrough and didn't experience any lag. You should expect it to work just as well as a classic controller.

I modded a NES gamepad with 2600 plug for Atari Joystick wired direct to on older Wiimote, no lag here.Nyukki wrote:Perhaps throwing the guts from a classic controller into an empty SNES controller would work. Anyone tried this?
Time and again I see posts claiming adapters have lag. Really? Are the electronics so slow that it could be noticed? I suspect the lag is more of the TV refresh rate or just coding in the game itself. Its not like an adapter is introducing Spyware or something the electrical pulses read certainly much faster then the eye.
Okay your SNES Wii controller has bugs, I'll buy it on the cheap.

^ Sure, display lag could also be a factor. All I know is, push B on classic controller, Mario jumps. Push B on SNES controller through Mayflash, Mario takes his sweet time.

So yeah, that's what I'm saying dude, a controller hooked straight to the Wiimote doesn't experience input lag. But shove a Mayflash in between the Wiimote and a controller and there's is a bit of lag.CRTGAMER wrote:I modded a NES gamepad with 2600 plug for Atari Joystick to on older Wiimote, nope no lage here.

I believe the SNES controller works through polling the inputs. The SNES sends a signal every clock cycle and on the return it sees which buttons that signal passes through. The Wiimote, on the other hand, works like a keyboard in that a press triggers a specific signal to the Wii. So the adapter has to bridge the gap between those two models, which allows for lag to enter the picture when things do not sync up.CRTGAMER wrote:I modded a NES gamepad with 2600 plug for Atari Joystick wired direct to on older Wiimote, no lag here.Nyukki wrote:Perhaps throwing the guts from a classic controller into an empty SNES controller would work. ^That is a fascinating explanation behind adapter lag—thanks Popo!
