The general premise of the show and reason for it to exist is the joke. The sports these athletes participate in already give out their own awards. How do you say who is the athlete of the year comparing them from various sports? Just self important crap.

Now the Jimmy V award means something, but the rest of the show is simply a lavish party. Why not party? Why not have fun and a good time?
