I have been collecting them for about a year now, i am up to 93 only about 10 are double dips from my dvd versions. But the studios not utilizing the whole 50 gigs per disc is really aggravating ...

I have 3
Alien Vs Predator R
Dark Knight
Iron Man
And the tech is new so give it a while. Besides I thought blue ray was 80 gigs O.o. I love the picture and I like how some dvds give you a digital copy.
Anyways I only got the movies I really wanted and that's what I will probably do until the price for blue ray goes down as it becomes more of the norm. I will prob buy the ocean's box set next time though.

I own one bluray, 300 and it looks like shit. I have also have a DVD player that upscales regular DVDs. I'll be honest, I'm not seeing a $15.00 difference. And with Netflix, owning Blurays seems pointless. If they were $5.00 more maybe I would own more but $10.00 to $15.00 more than a DVD is crazy.

0 Blu Rays
3 HD-DVDs - all of which have DVD sides and cost just as much as the DVD counterpart when I purchased them
Neither are worth it in my opinion. The masses are NOT videophiles and prefer convenience and affordability over slightly better picture.

Re: Blu ray's you own?
Since I have the ps3 and its an awesome blu--ray player, of course i have blu-ray's... games anyway. Ive seen a blu-ray high def movie but still quite a few things i would do before looking at the fine lines and cracks in somebody's skin...

Older. Not wiser.
Re: Blu ray's you own?
i have around 35 blus. 4 are double dips from dvd. I have an upscaling dvd player, and am not a videophile, and to tell you the truth I cant watch dvds on ether of my hdtvs, they just seem to bland.
i agree through, that blu-ray disks need to come down in price for the format to survive

Re: Blu ray's you own?
I hadn't heard of 'double dips' in this context before, presumed this is where you purchase a further copy of something you already own on dvd or video, and went on urban dictionary to check - it came up with something quite different - http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.p ... double+dip you guys are just filthy!
Re: Blu ray's you own?
I've had a PS3 since this summer (when MGS4 came out) and have picked up about 40-50 Blu-rays since then. With a few exceptions, I have bought movies that were on sale or bought used BDs. About half of my discs are upgrades of standard-def DVDs that I owned - I traded in or sold almost all of those that I upgraded. If I factor in the money from selling the stuff I upgraded, I doubt I've spent more than $10 a disc - probably closer to $7 or so. Solid blu-ray libraries can certainly be built cheaply if you know how/when to buy certain titles. Additionally, I've seen prices drop on BD almost every month or so in the past year.
