I'm really happy for Lucina, but I'm disappointed your avatar got in and not Chrom :(.

And I don't understand why poor Captain Falcon always gets announced so late and people are worried he might not be in the latest game

It's nice to finally get a mage character from fire emblem, even if they do use a sword too. I kinda wish we coulda gotten Isaac from Golden Sun for the sword + Magic thing though

Part of me thinks Sakurai just pulled a switch-a-roo on us and is saving the Shulk announcement for later. Everyone was convinced that would happen today and then we get this instead.

I'm happy to see that you can play as either version of the Avatar as well. Nice to see that Nintendo wasn't like "omg girls are too hard to make".

In fact they seem to be makign an effort to introduce more female characters into the game.

Although Zero Suit Samus and Shiek aren't exactly new or unique characters, we still have quite a few female fighters in total now:

Peach, Samus, Zelda, Zero Suit Samus, Shiek, Wii Fit Trainer (although they can optionally be male too), Rosalina, Palutena & Lucina, plus the optionally female Villager, Mii Fighter and Robin.

It's a step in the right direction for the roster. If only there were more heroines in Nintendo games to choose from - a lot of these are either characters where you choose your gender or else support characters from their series.

So my (fairly unlikely) wants list for any further new character announcements (unfortunately, almost universally male):

Shulk (Xnoeblade Chronicles)
Paper Mario (Paper Mario)
Andy (Advance Wars)
Chibi-Robo (Chibi-Robo!!)
Choirmen (or any other character from the series) (Rhythm Heaven)
Isaac (Golden Sun)

You want a good female character? Dixie. Seriously, she can have moves with throwing barrels with her hair and using her rock guitar. Plus she's probably the most iconic of the DKC trilogy kongs.

IIRC Dixie was going to be in Brawl but got cut for whatever reason.

She'd be a fun character.

Clearly Wolf was a much more important character.
