What was the last movie you've seen?

Talking monkeys with guns riding horses.

Need I say more?

If you see a guy in the movie who looks like me, it isn't me, but a good friend of mine who looks a lot like me.

Go see it. It's not perfect, but if you like monkey/ape shenanigans, it's rope.
Saw this last night. Thought it was interesting, now I'm wondering if the next movie is going to be Planet or if it's going to be another pre-Planet movie.

"Interesting" is a good way to put it. It's like a Political Sci-Fi Action Thriller. I didn't expect it to be as smart as it was.

I think they need to go either Planet, or if they go pre-planet to leave out humans.

I personally lean towards Planet, so that there's still some uncertainty when it comes time to discover that they finally did it, the maniacs.

I just ordered it. It seems to be getting strong reviews

The first half was decent, but then it got muddied down in cryptic tedium and utter bullshit. Many critics love bullshit.
I don't know what movie you were watching. I just finished it. No part of the movie was "decent". It was all excellent. It has a compelling and entirely coherent story with some nice twists and surprises. The acting was great and the characters were all great. The action scenes were creative and engaging and not just shoe horned into the movie for the sake of having action. They all served a purpose in the story. There's some good cinematography and I love that the movie keeps side stepping just being a big summer movie blockbuster and actually tries to be something a little more thought provoking.

It's one of the best Sci Fi movies I've seen in a while and I think everyone should see it. There's no excuse not to. It came out in theaters on June 27th and is already available on demand if you've got cable.

I'm going to have to agree to disagree with you on that one. :| For the record I didn't like the director's The Host either.

Well, I won't argue with you too much on that. I had mixed feelings on The Host. I think Snowpiercer shows a marked improvement in the director's style though. I found it much more enjoyable than The Host.

Thinking about going back to the two sequels later.
2 is really good. 3 is pretty good. 4 and 5 are terrible. 1 is a masterpiece.

Sounds like you just described every movie series....ever. Except replace 4 and 5 with 3 usually

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes was pretty fun, if a bit plodding at points. Certainly the best one since the originals. And yeah, this:

I have now seen Mario Bava's Twitch of the Death Nerve (a/k/a Bay of Blood). It sucks (regardless of its influence on the "slasher film" genre).

I also saw The French Connection II. Despite being completely unnecessary and based on a ridiculous premise, was way better than it had any right to be.
