Oh, behave yourself. It's nothing to do with England or a disrespect for athletes.

This isn't the Olympics, you get nothing for third in football. There isn't a champions league third place game, there isn't a FA cup third place game and you don't get a medal for finishing second in the league, never mind third. Yeah it's nice for Turkey or Sweden but do you think third place is what Brazil or Netherlands aim for? All this particular game is doing is rubbing salt in Brazilian wounds.

Scolari said the team played well today at the press conference

They played shitty the whole tournament, and when Neymar wasn't there to bail them out, they panicked. Hope it's a wake up call for the soccer administration in the country. We're stuck in the past, and this team was the worst Brazil that I can recall.

Hoping for a good game later. I don't imagine Germany will do what other teams have done against Argentina and let keeping Messi quiet become their primary tactic. If we go back to Germany's first game at the tournament against Portugal they managed to silence Ronaldo while also getting men forward.

The vibe I'm getting from friends, pundits and online commentators is that a Germany win is the preferred win for the neutral. People don't hate Germany anymore, even in Britain we have a lot of respect for them. Argentina despite having more flair players haven't really set the tournament alight and are seen as reasonably negative in their approach.

South Africa 2010 was such a pitiful tournament it became clear that the Champions League and top club leagues were where the best football could be seen. This World Cup has done a lot to reinstate international football as the top level of competition. Fingers crossed the final lives up to the billing.

You see that people are a bunch of nerds when they schedule a fighting game tournament finals on the same day as the fucking World Cup finals!

Possession is looking in Germany's favor, but Argentina has had a lot of clear scoring chances.

Shame Higuain can't time his runs better, or finish wide open 1 on 1 chances.

What a lovely finish to the tournament. Great goal by Gotze, and Schurrle's cross I didn't think was going to go through. Germany played a stellar tournament and they did not disappoint this evening.

Congratulations Germany! :D
