I didn't suggest otherwise. But I think even in other countries, the easy of duplication of DVD media, the affordability of DVD drives, etc... has made the VHS tape nearly extinct in all but a couple markets.
Damn digital media for destroying the future of analog signal recording. I still believe there's more potential in analog for preservation of original quality AND prevention of affordable, large-scale piracy.
Its true, VHS is dieing but the media itself I think is still published. Trust me if betamax was still manufactured till 2002 I think VHS will be manufactured till 2020 at least....
I guess someplace some where , there will be someone or some organization that have old equipment that depend on it...Just think of stuff like Afghanistan TV or Nigeria broadcasting...am not sure these guys use HD digital technology.
although for some nostalgic effect I like VHS, and its big plastic shape when you insert it into the vcr, you get the feeling you are really going to watch A MOVIE now so prepare...I guess same kind of feeling you get when watching laser disc. Yet , if you are like me, I went to watch VHS movie then noticed that I don't have subtitle optiions, audio dub, skipping, scene selection, and video quality add to that the weight and size of vhs tape you realize that DVD is 100% superior media in everyway. Its hard to believe now that people used vhs as the way to watch movies, just compare 10 vhs movies to 10 dvds on the shelf!!!
I want to comment on VHS longevity ,
I don't want to scare you , but where I am , compact cassette tape is still highly in use. I would say maybe 30% of the market or maybe even more!
in a world where some countries look at music CD's as old technology, i guess to some here, CD is still new technology
Am I right then in assuming Arabic is your first language? A couple of us had been wondering, since you said long ago that English wasn't what you typically spoke. Well, "Al salaam a'alaykum" to you, chief.
