It does pour it on REALLY heavy toward the end, but I was on board, it had a satisfying ending.General_Norris wrote:I admit I stopped liking Trigun once it got serious![]()
That opening scene is still hilarious, though.

Watched the first ep of Sword Art Online II and also the first ep of the new sailor moon anime. Both have me excited. I think the potential is there, and it's great to see Sailor Moon with a new revamped art style.
Also been working on Monster. Got up to around ep 20 or so. I happen to find it quite addicting, and definitely one of the best animes I've seen.

Oh man...I'm looking forward to those two...if only because I enjoyed the first sao and sailor moon brings so many fond memories as a kid(though looking back on it I don't know how i managed to watch that one, except for the fact we didn't get the part that would've probably banned me for life from watching anime like it

Well you won't be disappointed, I would say 10/10, I should've watched it a lot sooner.SamuraiMegas wrote:if he doesn't say 10/10 i will be dissapointSNESdrunk wrote:I'm tackling this show after I crank out Attack on Titan. It definitely does, but I still enjoyed it. The tone change was a little jarring at first.SNESdrunk wrote:It does pour it on REALLY heavy toward the end, but I was on board, it had a satisfying ending.General_Norris wrote:I admit I stopped liking Trigun once it got serious![]()

I can't believe anyone would ever re license this show. Discotek is hilarious.

I'm onto Attack on Titan, which is really REALLY friggin good and an awesome idea overall. It lives up to the hype. My only issue with it is the emotional haranguing is so over the top it's almost comical. I can't help but imagine Oprah shouting, "And you get soul wrenching overwhelming guilt! And YOU get soul wrenching overwhelming guilt!"

I personally don't care for Attack on Titan. Don't get me wrong - it seems like a very well-made show from what I have watched, but it's just far too dour and gruesome for my sensibilities. At least FullMetal Alchemist knew the value of levity throughout its episodes to balance out the tragedy.
I have been making my way through Kill La Kill lately, and oh my gosh, we finally have a successor to Gurren Lagann's brilliant madness! Gurren Lagann was one of my favorite anime shows ever, and to see a new show that has the same energy and creativity is a delight!

I agree. I'm really enjoying it, but there's a thin line between intense drama and melodramatic and Attack on Titan has it's little toe just far enough over that line that it can hop and do a perfect slow 360 degree spin over that line without actually landing on the other side. It's almost too much.SNESdrunk wrote:I'm onto Attack on Titan, which is really REALLY friggin good and an awesome idea overall. It lives up to the hype. I've also watched the first episode of the new Sailor Moon reboot. I enjoyed it overall, but I didn't like the cringe-worthy CG transformation sequence. Of all the things they could have CG'd to save time it was the sequence (and I assume they'll be doing it for all the girls, so it's probably going to be 'sequences') that's going to be re-used the most.

Possibly my favorite anime of all time, which has me wanting to check out Samurai ChamplooSamuraiMegas wrote:if he doesn't say 10/10 i will be dissapointSNESdrunk wrote:I'm tackling this show after I crank out Attack on Titan. I always say Cowboy Bebop just oozes coolness with the jazz soundtrack, the pop culture references, and the nods to all manner of cool genres like martial arts movies, samurai movies, film noir, and the classic music inspired episode titles. It also runs the gamut of badass action sequences from hand to hand combat, to gunfights, to dog fights in the sky, to dudes with Japanese swords.
It's also a great gateway anime because it's not so distinctly Japanese. And lastly, it's just so re-watchable. Very easy to just jump right into any random episode and want to watch all the way to the end.
