Chaining the intro to chapter 3 is pretty tricky, but afterward is not so bad...at least until the walls start closing in. So if you can make it past the intro, 20-30 chains should be relatively easy.

Bound to plug it sooner or later, so... This is how I do chapter 3 (a little advanced, but far from elite):

Funny thing about chapter 4, once you figure out how to survive through it, chaining it consistently becomes easier than 3 and even 2...

Yeah, I've cleared the game on Easy, and I can get decent-ish chains on Stage 4 and 5. Both stages have sections where a lot of white ships swarm the screen, so it's easy to rack up a bunch of chains without too much effort.
