Didn't that already happen in 1966?
Just noticed this. No, last nights result was much much worse. Germany sent it to extra time in the 66 final and it was a evenish game overall. Even England's 1-0 loss to an amateur USA team in 1950 pales in comparison.

I've been wracking my brain and can't think of a result like this in football history. There has been shocks and surprises but never anything so utterly and crushingly one sided, especially given the context.

I feel for Brazilian's both off and on the pitch. I think some of the players might have thought their name was already on the trophy and let it go to their heads. David Luiz was abysmal, Fred was useless, Marcelo forgot his role, Fernandinho was incompetent and Scolari didn't react.

That said Germany have played the much better football this tournament and deserve to be in the final. It's like bizarro world: Germany play the attractive passing football and Brazil are tough in the tackle and cynically break up the play.

In 1954 Germany lost to Hungary 8-3.

But they avenged their loss in the finals and beat Hungary 3-2.

So, it wasn't very humilliating after all.

Can't really root for either team. Both have asshole players who yank and pull and slam into their competition. What a dastardly show.

Two teams cancelling each other out here. More or less expected.

Pretty amusing that there were jeers from the neutrals when Holland were forced to play it back to their goalie. You'd think after last night you'd just keep your mouth shut.

I'm rooting for the Netherlands just to see a Brazil VS Argentina game 8)

EDIT

FUCK you Netherlands, once more you show your VERY poor feeling of sportsmanship. Your OWN player was on the ground and you kept playing cause you were attacking. Congrats, I hope you are proud.
