Hidden Gems articles strike again

Post by Scooter »

Through the Hidden Gems articles on this site I've discovered at least a couple previously unknown (to me) games that I've really enjoyed. Recently, I picked up Drakan for my PS2 because of the Hidden Gems article on this site. The quick outline of the game made it sound like something I would really enjoy. I found a nice copy locally for $8.95 so I had to try it. It is EXACTLY the kind of game I really like. I haven't gotten that deep into it, but I could tell from the first few minutes that this is a game I will eventually finish, which is kind of rare in my gaming world.

One the absolute best things I like about this game is the save feature where you can save at any point and any time. This kind of feature seems to be lost on many game makers. This means I can sit down and play all day or I can grab a quick 20 minutes of play when I can and I can still make progress and save it. I think a lot of times with many games I put off picking them up again because I know it will be a multi-hour commitment which I typically cannot make.

Anyway, once again, thanks go to this site for leading me to a happy gaming place!
Ow! My small intestine!

Glad it was a help :)
We may be doing a few more systems in the series and then maybe spinning off the series into genre-based installments

That would be very cool. "Hidden Gems" is what brought me to this site, and I think it's definitely one of the better series of articles I've read on any gaming site.

It, and Hardcore Gaming 101 rate as my two favourite locations to learn about quality games the mainstream media would otherwise gloss over.

That puts me in good company -- thanks! :)
