Oh no, I didn't know Steven Moffat was involved with Tintin. I was going to give it a watch but that's put me off.

Just watched Rocky IV on the Fourth of July with someone who had never seen Rocky. He started skeptical, but was screamin' and yellin' at the TV by the end - "GET UP ROCKY! BEAT THAT SOVIET BASTARD!"
Gah, it was so American, and so glorious!

I tried my best to get my buddies to watch that exact movie last night...to no avail.
"If I can change...and you can change"
Some of the best musical montages ever in that film. 80's bliss.

My buddy Dave watched that part, and said "... Did Rocky... did Rocky just end the Cold War?"Luke wrote: "If I can change...and you can change"
Yes, Dave. Yes he did.
I think this movie may have changed Dave's view on 80's music. He's an uber-punk, and has hated basically all 80's music... up until last night. He was rocking out.Luke wrote: Some of the best musical montages ever in that film. 80's bliss.
"There's no easy way out... There's no short-cut-home!"

Guh. This movie is perfect Cold War propaganda. I love it. We should have RB "Let's Watch" sessions.

And the same effects.
I liked the sequel better. The naval fights were pretty good for a fantasy-based battle (You know what I mean)

The Fault in Our Stars
Nice movie, but very sad. Not much more to say about it here that hasn't already been said. Prepare to be emotionally manipulated. But of course, anyone who doesn't go in expecting that clearly didn't do their homework before walking into the theatre.
How To Train Your Dragon 2
Appropriately fun, adorable and touching. More than a worthy successor to the first one.

Interesting art film about a controlling father, and his children. Most of it takes place in their summer home, where it's his own little world.

Some Japanese movies I recommend:
Casshern
Versus
The Returner
These 2 are not for the squeamish:
Suicide Club
Battle Royale

Re: What was the last movie you've seen?

Touching story, charming characters, excellent use of 3d. The pacing feels a bit slow at times, but it all pays off when things come together in the end. Going back to the 3D, it's very artfully used and at times impressed me almost as much as Gravity and Pina, the two best uses of 3D I've seen so far. Without spoiling anything, the movie really feels like a celebration of a certain art form.
EDIT:
Just saw this:
^Director's Cut
Imagine a cheesier version of Rush Hour (yes, it's possible) with a lot less production value but MUCH better action...and super hot Brittany Murphy
Shame she's no longer with us
It actually predates Rush Hour too. I recently found out about this and apparently it's a cult hit, but only the Director's Cut. There is an edited, shittier version out there, which seems to be the case with a lot of martial arts movies. This is totally worth it for the amazing, badass fight scenes and I'll admit to laughing at some of the movie's dumb humor too
