Does AC/DC have "good" material? I've listened to their Back in Black album. It sucked. The only AC/DC song that I can stand is Highway to Hell.D.D.D. wrote:No GnR? No AC/DC? Re: Gnr chinese democracy
I just gave it a listen through... It reminds me in some ways of Illusion I&II. It's not a bad album like most are saying (I guess they wanted it to be Appetite part II) but it is pretty good. I don't know if I'll want to listen to it in 10 years like Appetite or Illusion I&II but it certainly isn't bad.Doctor Fugue wrote:I think the album is great.
The oddest feeling I got was, it's so weird to hear Axl sing again. I almost felt like it was the 90s again. I mean, it's been a long, long, long time (obviously).

yeah...I can't beleive the new "Guns 'n Roses" record generated 3 pages of post. but then when I looked at it, it was mostly a pro tools argument! haha! I didn't think g 'n r could be worth so many pages. It's bassically shlock and pretty much an extension of the spagetti incident with better production. nothing original form what I've heard.
Also.....pro tools is great software. The Beatles would have used pro tools if it was available. Most engineers and producers want to use the best equipment available. I know analog supposedly has a warmth that digital doesn't capture, but unless you are talking about tape hiss most people can't tell the difference. I like using analog, it can sound great and it's so tactile, but it's just too expensive. Plus most people that record analog convert it to digital to edit so they don't have to ruin the originals. Also unless you are pressing vinyl only, or releasing on tape it's converted to digital anyway for release of cd or digital download. Even then alot of modern day mastering is done of software, and vinyls get pressed from those masters. Hmmm.....
and as far as profomance, yes using protools can give you the editing power to loop, auto tune, double, cleap up, eq, add effects etc. which is all based on analog technology and you could still do on tape. pro tools makes it easier thats for sure, but it takes alot of know how and skill to do it properly. And you can still get a real, and fantastic sounding recoring in pro tools. You simply use some decent mic's and capture the sound. You can still have a vibrant, warm recording if the musicians are capable.
And i'm sorry but Dr Feelgood does not rock. The only Motley Crue albums that still rock are "Too Fast for Love" and "Shout at the Devil" when they were bassically a thrash band and had a more original sound. Their later stuff is such arena rock crap.

Re: Gnr chinese democracy
I have garageband.
I'm still trying to figure that out. I'd like to make music though. Stuff like protools and garageband is great because you don't have to take 10 years of piano lessons to make something decent sounding. I like to think I have an ear for music and I can at least get ideas out of my head and into the speakers with the software they make today whether I went to music school or took lessons or not.

I'm not saying that AC/DC sucks, I just hate that particular album. I was asking if AC/DC had "good material" and "bad material" like Metallica (Re/Load, St. Anger, and Black being the "bad material") or Kreator (Outcast, Cause For Conflict, Endodrama, and Renewal being their "bad material").
