That's just a average, in certain states/areas it's higher than that others it's lower. But the thing is I don't think that includes the people who have technically given up(which is stupid in my opinion because they are unemployed still but are just not looking)

Well it's ONE country so I don't understand the point in counting it state by state when comparing it with the rest of the world.

And it is correct to not count people who aren't looking for work in the unemployed stat. There would be too many distortions otherwise.

Yeah but what I'm saying is that the stat is a average of all the unemployment rates by state.

Heck here's even the official list of rates:

http://www.bls.gov/web/laus/laumstrk.htm

While you have North Dakota that is 2.6, you have rhode island which is 8.2. Which is sad but proves the point that it's just a average and that's all it is, is a average of all the rates...Sad but true(though 6.4 may seem low that's still a ton of people considering the whole of the USA population)

1) Still have no idea what a state by state stat has to do with a discussion on USA unemployment rate compared to the rest of the world.

2) Just google "countries by unemployment rate" or "countries by unemployment numbers" before you start talking about sad.

Well some areas and states are booming while others are struggling with unemployment figures in the teens I believe. We had unemployment in the 4-5 range for most of the 2000s

So people should just move state?

That's really low, and it's not normal for a country to get lower than that, so I understand where all the "get a job" Americans were coming from.

So there are other consequences that have occurred due to the Hobby Lobby supreme court decision. Now groups, including Hobby Lobby, are seeking to use the precedent of companies having religious rights to legally discriminate against homosexuals.

Some do, but some are reluctant to or stuck where they are.

US is very much a work hard mentality country. You Europeans with your 30 hour work weeks. Many of us often put in 50-60. Must be nice, and in a way I am a bit jealous.

You mean to say this decision, and in general any decision giving corporations the same rights as an individual was stupid to say the least? Why I'm shocked.

Seriously this sucks ass, and it will only create further conflict.

Well and the bigger issue to me seems that for those of us that do work, taxes and the prices of everything don't seem to help matters. I mean geese counting in 401k maxed out with harris teeter(even if the max is half match of the full 5% they allow) you still have to make close to $18 per hour to make even living amounts of money...(and even that is kinda fudging some numbers I think)
