Hmm romantic films usually have both a female and male lead...
Imo usually the films focus heavily on the woman thus making it more a story about her, giving lesser value to the man character.

The same of course is true of action films and women. Even though both actors and characters suck ass, you can't say that Megan Fox "played as important a part" as the stuttering idiot's character in the Transformer films....then again bringing Michael Bay in a thread like this sounds like a bad idea

It's probably this treatment of characters that create "chick and bro" flicks. Not so much the subject matter but the point of view of the world being one sided sex wise.

The "using more than 10% of your brain" thing is just a pet peeve of mine. I'd spend the whole movie not being able to get over it.

Women make more in porn than men.

It really does boil down to this. People write what they know. Yes, they can stretch and do something they don't know, but it's not a natural tendency.
But the problem is how do you get more female developers and writers in a male dominated industry? Getting more women actively involved by making them feel included, supporting our youth by letting girls know they can do it to. Encouragement in everyday task like toys that promote creative and logical thought. Also people being excepting of female representation in video game. Stop saying stuff like "that's for boys" or "you should pick a safe carerr choice". Just saying well once they are more females in the game industry the problem will be fixed isn't going to change anything.

No, female actors make more than male actors and they should overall by the amount of effort and face time women put in over the men. Males still make the most, producers, studio executives and directors.

 They get in the same way as any other industry women have come into, by having the skills and knowledge to properly perform the job. The industry is, has been, and will continue to be increasing filled with female developers. Its just a matter of time, essentially. I was always told oil field work was only for men. Know about 5 women who are currently doing.

And, while I appreciate what Anita is doing and understand her reasoning, I really do think it is hurting more than helping. I've heard more sexist and horrible things said in the video game world since her videos gained attention, and anything related to this brings out the misogynistic crowd from nowhere.

It definitely was. Anita was getting death and rape threats for announcing the kickstarter. Before a single video had even been released. They hurled abuse at her for talking about wanting to talk about it.

Either way, trying to pin the blame for the disgusting sexism that you're seeing on anybody other than the people being disgusting sexists is absolutely 100% wrong. The only people responsible for abuse are the abusers.

Nerd culture is filled with rampant unchecked misogyny that's bubbling to the surface because people have started pointing it out. If it wasn't there to begin with, it wouldn't have needed to be illustrated.

When anyone talks about sexism, especially a woman, especially in nerd/gaming spaces, the absolute first reaction you'll get from 'nerd/gamer culture' at large is death and rape threats. Most people don't seem to understand just how fucking bad it really is.

There's a huge fucking problem. The prospect of this shit even being discussed is enough to send people into a fury.

But why is the geek/nerd culture so misogynistic? Is it because because on average they have a harder with women and then take their frustrations out? Seems kinda dumb becuase that makes it even harder to get women to like you.
