While I'm not crazy about most death metal, I have to say that Meshuggah is one of the most amazing bands I have ever heard. Their drummer is on par with Neil Peart and Danny Carey in terms of skill and technicality.

Also, you have to keep in mind that there are so many different sub-genres of Death Metal these days that the definition gets kind of blurry. Most of complaints I've read so far here seem to describe Black Metal - which I also think sucks.

This thread is the most pointless thread on the board (yes even worse than Holaback's racism thread).

Any genre of music that you are unfamiliar with will sound generic and terrible.

The key is to listen without prejudice and any genre of music will have it's redeeming qualities.

The reason you don't like death metal is probably because the stuff you were subjected to sucks ass. If all I had heard of techno was the thumping euro shite of basshunter then I'd hate that too.

I think you should listen to some Meshuggah, they are probably the best metal band ever.

You might not like the cookie monster vocals, or the crazy speed the song picks up during the verses, but you surely have to concede that those guitarists and that drummer are all fucking amazing.

I just clearly said that I don't care how amazing the performers are. There was a drummer last night that bordered on the superhuman. It's just a shame that he doesn't play actual music.
