I'm happy they brought FIFA to the Vita (and Madden for the Vita is the best handheld football game ever) but they have done fans no service by barely re-skinning the iterations of the game (and all of them use the FIFA 11 engine). Maybe it's a chicken and the egg thing: they anticipated no real market so they put little to no effort in the games, but on the flip side, why buy them with literally nothing except a soft roster update?dsheinem wrote:
That's not fair at all. I've played a few EA games for the Vita that were excellent. Their port of Need for Speed Most Wanted is stunningly good, and I was impressed with the time I've spent playing FIFA on the unit. They also had solid Burnout and Madden releases for the PSP.
I have '13 as I figured their first venture (aptly titled just FIFA Soccer) would certainly be inferior to having a whole year of vita development. Maybe sales were so bad at the start that any updates were dead on arrival. A shame really.
tl;dr: you only need to own one FIFA game on the Vita

I wasn't saying EA's portable game record isn't terrible (I'm a massive portable gamer, so you should know already that I think their record is pitiful). I just didn't want people passing over and already pretty obscure game that is the one shining gem in EAs portable output because they assumed it was all shit.ZeroAX wrote:That's still a very poor record. I think it's bullshit because they NEVER invested in the games. Their philosophy is the same everywhere. They launch a clone of steam, they don't offer anything new to make it stand out, they make facebook games, they just copy zynga the most "successful" publisher/developer for the platform, they make smartphone games, they just copy everything that is mildly successful (Dungeon Clash of Keeper Clans anyone?), and they complain about the lack of value in developing for handhelds, when they didn't bother making any handheld focused games. Even their PSP and PS Vita games are just ports of PS2/PS3 games.alienjesus wrote: I'll reiterate that Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure was fantastic. The port of Theme Park was solid fun too.
I guess they make some good console games, but man if that's not stupid (putting all your eggs in one basket) I don't know what is. Ubi-Soft at least tries.

I actually did hear good things about that one, but it flew completely under my radar when it came out. Also when it was announced it did seem like EA was trying to mix Professor Layton (just the character) with Bejeweled to get itself a giant casual hit.alienjesus wrote: I wasn't saying EA's portable game record isn't terrible (I'm a massive portable gamer, so you should know already that I think their record is pitiful). Yeah, I think that is the vibe everyone got, which is a shame, because it's not really like that at all.ZeroAX wrote:I actually did hear good things about that one, but it flew completely under my radar when it came out.
