Autofire is basically built in to this. If you don't want to use it, so be it.

So we're seeing 2 lists -- Arcade/GC/DC and XBLA/Steam (PC)?
Sounds good to me. I still think people can indicate if they are/aren't using autofire in their scoreline. It would be interesting to see if and how that effects the scores.

are we sure we need 2 tables at all? I've tried reading up on differences and they sound subtle, like Stage 3 boss starts shooting lazer from left instead of right (or vice versa)... I mean will that REALLY effect anyone's scores? Not to mention, we're pretty casual players. I don't think I've ever even seen the 3rd boss in my life. I mean, if there's real compelling reasons (like the base scoring is really different) then that's one thing.

I also see no reason to list autofire in a game where that's default. That'd be like having it mandatory to list "used bombs" in DDP or something. Just my opinion.

(*note: UNLESS the original Arcade game didn't offer autofire, and there's folks actually planning to play it. That I don't know).

It didn't…it had to be rigged up to play it that way as far as I can recall, so folks using a PCB or MAME may not want to use autofire to have a more "authentic" experience.

I just think we should follow the lead at the shmups forum since they are the experts. http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=48471

They don't mention autofire in their scores, I just though we could add it as an extra in case people wanted to give it a go without autofire turned on.

So:

Arcade/DC/GCN - one table

XBLA/Steam - second table

on both boards, users might mention (if they'd like) whether they are using autofire or not.

Perhaps we may add additional tables for other modes, too, if people play them.

k, guess I can't argue. I'll agree they're the 'experts,' as I'm sure they did do research on how different they score. So that's fine.

Though I hope I'm not the only one playing on Steam. Gonna be a lonely, low-scoring table, haha.

I hope to play on GCN early this month, Steam late this month. Ikaruga is a "beatable" shmup in that you can beat it (not 1cc it) by unlocking credits over time (at least in GCN). I think I counted it as "beaten" one year when I got enough to get to this point. Fucking game.

I have the Steam version, but I don't think I can submit any scores for it, because it runs like crap on my laptop. Framerate drops below 40fps frequently, so it doesn't let you add scores to the online ranking either.

It's a bit annoying, since Crimzon Clover runs fine on the same laptop, even in Unlimited Mode. There was an update for Ikaruga a while back that let you change the graphics settings, but this didn't seem to have any effect on the game speed for me. Bummer.

I also have a copy of Ikaruga for the DC but I can't play that either, as it's at my parents' house and last time I was home the DC wasn't working anyway!

So I guess that just leaves emulation. I think I can get it running fine on NullDC, fingers crossed...
