There's always the high score thread. Start off by sticking to the shotgun, and only pick up the biplanes when they're given to you. Make sure you're getting every shotgun powerup you possibly can. Don't bomb (until the last level, if you have to), and if you're playing for points, don't roll. Learn the levels in and out. Know when there's going to be a drought of powerups, and know when things are going to come up behind you.
Truth. That's actually pretty close to how I play it.

I know I can always play it again, but SotMC does make things more exciting.

I am excited for Ikaruga. I hope I actually play it.

How are we doing versions? I know the XBLA port had one spot changed to make a full chain impossible (?), and the steam and arcade ports have some slowdown differences.

... but since we aren't breaking world records, not sure if any of this warrants splitting.

Can't wait to see dem fat chains.

DC/NAOMI seem identical, I've 1cc'd both on easy and played a lot on normal, never noticed anything that wasn't perfect in the DC port.

GC seems to have a couple minor differences but nothing huge (like one white/black thing switched during a boss fight).

XBLA is considered pretty broken. Lasers act different, etc. I think that DC/ARCADE/GCN are fair on one table, the rest on another, but that's just my 2c.

Consoles: I have too much stuff
Arcade: No seriously, I have too much stuff. Someone grab a shovel and dig me out of my basement.

Yeah, the shmups board separates out XBLA from the rest, but I don't think they've lumped PC into either table yet. What makes you think it is closer to the XBLA port and not the DC/Arcade/GCN versions?

To my understanding the PC port is the same as the xbox version.

Ah my favorite part of sotm each month... the part where we try to figure out why ports need their own tables.

I also look forward to autofire debates, fwiw.

cool. yeah, looks like a separate table with the XBLA version.

I think this would be one where, since most (all) ports have auto-fire built in as a default, we can allow it and simply designate in our scoreline whether it was used or not.

I'm sure some of you have already figured this out, but you can completely neutralize the polarization and be invincible to all bullets if you play on a b & w TV.

Are we going to have a TR thread up for this soon? I figure we can do it the same as DDP in 2012 -- scores on that thread (with updated lists here too) and discussion here.

Autofire is basically built in to this. If you don't want to use it, so be it.

So we're seeing 2 lists -- Arcade/GC/DC and XBLA/Steam (PC)?
