So, I was chillin in my apartment, playing some Monster Hunter, and I walked outside to meet my girl as she was coming home... and my apartment complex was on fire. The fire had started in the block of apartments next to ours, and had been spreading. When I got outside and asked about the situation, I was told that it was unknown as to whether the fire would reach us or not. It had spread over 4 apartments, and had reached the small gap in between that set and ours. We had to gather everything important and start loading it in the car.

Now, I admit, I get pretty enthralled by my games... but how the fuck did I not notice this happening? Why did no one knock on my door and let me know I might be on fire soon?
That is horrible Dun that you had to go through that. Having had an apartment fire situation similar to yours, I feel your feeling of dread, remorse for those affected and complete confusion. Luckily, with mine, the fire department knocked on my door (almost kicked it open, since it happened at 4 AM).

Maybe for Americans, most Europeans don't bother going to the ancient stuff they're here only for the beaches and beach clubs/bars  .

Exactly. We got the ruins cause they were made of stone/marble. If our ancestors were building with wood like you guys nothing would be left. The Acropolis would be just a a rock with some black marks on it

I bought waaaaaay too many costumes when I was playing LittleBigPlanet. I think that's why they sent me an invite to the LittleBigPlanet 2 Beta.

You do realize mostly the public places were made to last, just like here. Again do Greeks not use wood in building? Usually only homes here have wooden stairs. Your houses only have concrete stairs?

Why most American homes are made from wood? At least thats my perception from TV shows. Where I live, our homes are made from this :

The whole thing. I don't think an earthquake can damage our homes.

Our houses are made from wood because wood is cheap. If you purchase an older home it might have been built with brick, but these days you can put up a wood house pretty quickly and inexpensively.
