How much do you guys spend a month on gaming

Last month I calculated that my "budget" on gaming sucks. I didn't do my plan at all and I ended up spending almost 500.00 last month and the average of 350-400 in the last few month's.
It's crazy how much I spend on video games. Its hard because you go to ebay and craigslist and other sites or just go to the retro store or gamestop to kill time and 10.00 there or 5.000 there adds up big time.
I see all the pickups on "look what I found thread" and b/s/t thread and I figured how much do any of you guys spend a month on games and what do you guys want to say you try to budget yourself. For me I say 30.00 every other week but so far that has not happened yet.
I'll tell you right now that's all changing for me. 500.00 on games is way too much. I could have almost 2500 in the bank right now.

A lot of us keep track over in the Games Acquired thread. Take a look at the monthly roundups over there to get a good sense.

Oh ok thanks man. I just looked over at a few pages and its crazy at all the pickups. I guess I'm not the only one who dishes out a couple hundred a month on games.

I spend way too much.

I too recently realized how much I spend on gaming and have decided that my back log is so tremendous that I am going to start playing all of these amazing games I have and forget about new games for a long while. None of the games scheduled for this year really strike me as a must have anyway. Now, Nintendo will own my wallet next year though.

Hasnt this been an issue for you several times before and you sold everything off? Why would you start again?

Maybe $50 on software. Usually a game on Gog or Steam if on sale, maybe a new console game.

When you get into hardware (counting all parts of arcade games and old pcs), it gets to be a bit more complicated. Since that is pretty much a self propelling system. I may get a gutted dynamo cab, spend $200 to turn it into a multicab and sell it locally for $500, netting me more money to spend on cabs or pc hardware. Or someone may give me a dead pc that just needs a cleaning and a new harddrive. Things like this happen all the time (the dead pc, less on the cabs) so I dont keep track of it the same way - receipts on a spike on the workbench actually.

This is exactly what I was going to say. I'm seeing a pattern of what I could only call addiction... MAS take care of yourself dude and say no to making purchases sometimes. If not before long you will be really upset with yourself and selling everything again. (and we will have another thread about it I'm sure)

Back on topic though, both my wife and I have a $300.00/month "funny money" allowance that we pay ourselves throughout the month as paychecks come in. This money goes into a separate account that we can use for whatever we what. She buys shoes, clothes, starbucks, jewelry, etc... I buy specialty beers, on nights out without the wife, and video games. I average probably two thirds of that money on video games.
