Duarte might have cost the Costa Ricans the game, that was a poorly timed tackle. That 5 on 2 counterattack the Greeks just had should have been it!

So far all this weekend my predictions have been wrong ZeroAX, so you've got that going for you. Fun fact: for each of the two last World Cups, I've cheered on the team that ends up being second place. I've done this at the very beginning of the tournament too, so it hasn't been me being a fair weather fan.

El Tri I was hoping would squeak out with the win, but good god if Sneijder's goal wasn't an absolute screamer. So fantastic I screamed out loud in the living room, alerting my fiancée's family.

We deserved to lose the penalty shots since we deserved to win the game and failed at it. As you said Blu that counter attack was a chance we should have scored but the choice by the player to shoot was a huge mistake when he had so many people to pass to. Anyway I am happy we even got to the top-16 and so close to the top-8. And I don't care what some people say, we played really well against the team that took out Italy.

Also that goal that Costa Rica scored against us was just pathetic, and it's the fault of our defense, which was amazing during the entire game, but the 1 time they failed Costa Rica took advantage of it.

Anyway, now fingers crossed for the rest of the teams I support. USA, France, Germany and Belgium (though I feel conflicted about which team to support in the USA-Belgium game).

Cue the "Greek Tragedy" headlines.

Lovely scenes at the end with the Costa Rican players and fans just about in tears. They have garnered so much respect and admiration at this world cup.

Let's keep it going!

If people don't use Greek in front of it, everyone thinks they're talking about England

Yeah, it was a great match and there's no shame really in that loss. Better than being El Tri and losing to a dive in the box. I think the challenges for Greece are rebuilding your midfield while still preserving your backline.

Oh, the burn. England are the only team to not lose to Costa Rica at this tournament. RECORD HOLDERS! WOOOO! Rooney for captain!

Seriously though, when you are backing a quarter of the teams left in the competition it's kind of hard to lose, no?

El Tri is Mexico, hermano.

Whatever. Just "Mexico" works fine, too.
