Why is it the Metal Slug roms have no blood? I'm running MVS on the PSP and no matter what I set the region or machine setting too, there's no blood. Also, why is every single D&D:Shadow over Mystara rom out there 2-player only when the game supported four players? It's not a big deal, but just something I find odd. I suppose if I were every to play the game with a couple other PSP users, it's two players only
Also, when I run ANY Capcom fighting game on CPS2PSP, I will randomly have the game shut off my PSP, when I switch it back, the game will continue running, but with weird sound issues(everyone suddenly sounds like a chipmunk)
Ugh, I'm starting to remember why I lost interest in emulation years ago. Too many issues. Also, whenever I run Ninja Gaiden 2 on NesterJ, I noticed the graphics get completed f'ed up on level 2. I could go on and on....

I'm pretty sure there were dipswitches for the blood in the metal slugs.

I tried messing around with those and had no luck. Guess it wouldn't hurt to try again. I love emulation, but it can be such a hassle sometimesMozgus wrote:I'm pretty sure there were dipswitches for the blood in the metal slugs.

You need to go into test mode (in MAME you press F2. I have no idea how other emulators achieve this). From there go to the menu "Setting up the soft dip", and then "Slot1 Metal Slug". Once in there you can turn blood on.
Once set, you need to soft-reset the game for it to take effect.

It would be exactly the same if you have the original arcade system. It's not terribly difficult to achieve if you read the supplied documentation.Gamerforlife wrote:I love emulation, but it can be such a hassle sometimes

Re: Annoying emulation issues
those emulators you are using on the psp are not 100%, there are known issues.
Especially CPS2PSP and MVS.
as far as the nes emulator, you might want to update your custom firmware and use a new nes emulator. i never had any issues with that one

Re: Annoying emulation issues
Well, I found out what my problem was. I didn't know there was a SECOND settings menu that can only be accessed in-game by holding the left and right triggers, then hitting select. I inadvertantly discovered this while lurking on other forum and presto! Blood option!
Anyhoo, I just plowed through stage 1 of Metal Slug X in all its blood glory! Thanks for the input guys
