I believe this is in order:isiolia wrote:Cronozilla wrote:Yes, but the technology wasn't there yet. Now it's actually getting here.
Nah. If the early implementations suck, it'll never go anywhere. Just like tablets, or streaming video.

No VR will go the way of 3D. It's too uncomfortable for most human beings and it adds too little to most gaming/film experiences. Like 3D it can be used for some good results, but overall I don't think it will catch on.

Any games that are better to play in 3D than 2D? My friend told me Uncharted 3 was done "right" in 3D.
As for OR, I thought these things were uncomfortable for the face and the brain to wear for long periods of time (30min ?)

On one hand, the technology is pretty awesome and I hope it does succeed on some level.ZeroAX wrote:No VR will go the way of 3D. On the other hand it's still not really practical. At the risk of having the Oculus Rift hype machine descend upon me with a righteous fury, I'm still personally not convinced of the mass appeal either.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
If arcades were still a big thing I could see it becoming hugely successful to play fps games (or maybe they can use them in gaming focused internet cafes, if those still exist) specially if they were coupled with those running around pads I saw TF2 being demoed on, but at home? Too expensive and too niche.Gunstar Green wrote: On one hand, the technology is pretty awesome and I hope it does succeed on some level.

It is even better with multiplayer! The glitch genre is definitely gaining a lot of ground.dsheinem wrote:so Goat Simulator is way more fun than it has any right to be.

I'll have to try the multiplayer, then. I just played around with it for the first time this morning for a half an hour or so and couldn't stop laughing.BogusMeatFactory wrote:It is even better with multiplayer! Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I watched a video of Goat Simulator last night and couldn't figure out what that piece of software is even supposed to be.
