I was told to burn Saturn games at the lowest speed to ensure a proper working disc free of errors and freezing. I downloaded disc juggler pro 4.6 and the lowest available write speed is 16x. Before I was using Nero and the lowest available speed was 16x. I've burned a few saturn games to disc at 16x and they either don't work or they freeze before the intro. However they work on SSF Saturn emulator.
How do I burn at 4x??? Is it the CD-Rs that I am using, or is it the CD burner itself???

Re: How do I burn at 4x???
It's your software that's limiting your minimum write speed. From memory (which is fuzzy, because it's quite some time since I've used either Nero or Windows) there's an option buried in the preferences to allow very low write speeds.

Not only software but your media. Make sure it can actually burn at 4x... Get some TaiyoYuden's or TDKs. Don't skimp on quality on CDs or DVDs.

diskjuggler trial version only burns at lowest setting which is ok, you actually need to burn it at the lowest.

I've never heard of media (particularly CD media) that has limited your MINIMUM write speed (we're talking CD-R 4X burning here, not DVD-R).D.D.D. wrote:Not only software but your media. Make sure it can actually burn at 4x... Get some TaiyoYuden's or TDKs. Don't skimp on quality on CDs or DVDs.
Re: How do I burn at 4x???
It's either hard limited by your drive firmware or by the media.
If you have a cheap and cheerful drive they tend to sacrifice low speed compatibility for high speed (since everybody defaults to burn discs at the highest speed possible). Compare your drive with a high quality plextor or pioneer drive and you'll find that they have the ability to burn at a much higher range of speeds.
You might be able get lower speed from higher quality media but I wouldn't count on it.
Have a look through the preferences on your burning software to see if you have the ability to change the speeds that you can burn at.
I don't tend to use windows much let alone discjuggler so I can't tell you what you are looking for exactly.

I use Memorex 52x CD-Rs. I have been using Nero 8 to burn ISO, the lowest available speed is 16x. SSoooo I donwloaded disc juggler and guess what? 16x is the lowest available option too. I went into the Nero preferences and didn't find anything in regards to write speeds. I haven't checked out disc juggler's preferences yet.
When I get home from work I'm going to have to literally type down what CD burner I'm using and all the other good stuff and let you guys know and hopefully someone will have an answer.
You guys are awesome
