Re: moving to a tiny island
it's in the seto inland sea between hiroshima and shikoku. man, i wish it was okinawa! that's my favorite place in the world.catnip wrote:Is it in the north or south (Okinawa ftw)? Do you have any tips for people like me?
tips? take opportunities to volunteer as a language teacher, learn about japan, get a bachelor's degree, and apply for the JET program!
I will have internet at home luckily, so i will probably be online a lot when i'm not at work. sea mail does sound like a good idea, but i don't own a lot of cold-weather clothes as it is. i'll probably make some shopping trips when necessary, because although my location will be very inconvenient, i won't be completely stranded.marurun wrote:Will you have home access to the internet from this little island? Also, something to consider is sea mail.
like mark said, i am actually in texas with family, but will be back in san francisco for about a week since i have to fly out of there to japan. so a meetup may be possible... will let you guys know in the usual thread if it's something i can work outBradtemple87 wrote:Lets make sure to meet up before you move. I will be back in town in a few weeks permanently
that's funny, because i actually play in a band called oxygen destroyer. we won't need to escape him, we'll simply destroy him if need be.MrPopo wrote:You do realize that if Godzilla attacks you will have no way to escape his rampage.
thanks! as mentioned above, i hope to be in town for a week at the end of july. if i have time, hopefully we can plan some sort of meetup.sevin0seven wrote:congrats Chris!
so if i destroy him, does that make me the bad guy?ZeroAX wrote:Didn't you see the latest film? Godzilla is the good guy

Oh man, lucky. I've always wanted to live on a small island somewhere for a short amount of time, but since it's Japan that makes it a million times better.
I'm surprised there is internet to be honest, but then again it is Japan I suppose...

Dude, you probably won't be too far from Itsukushima (when I was there years ago it was still largely called Miyajima). That place is awesome. A shrine/spa site where the deer roam freely, and will try to eat your poncho...
