There's not enough commercials for it to be a popular American sport. You can always go and pee during the "passing the ball back to the keeper" phasedsheinem wrote: There's not enough commercials for it to be a popular American sport. We drink giant drinks and our bladders are puny.

I still haven't figured out why no one has introduced the recently developed technology of the "stopwatch" to the game.

This is a big reason why its not on TV more than the other sports. America is all about money, so if the networks can't make a good profit from it then they won't give a primetime slot. I'm also guessing the reason sponsor's logo's are on Euro league uniforms are because of no commercials? I know this will sound dumb but i would hate if American sports teams started wearing big logo's right in the middle where the team's logo is now.dsheinem wrote:There's not enough commercials for it to be a popular American sport.
After watching a lot of games i understand why they don't stop the clock every time the ball goes out or if someones fakes an injury. But i still think they should stop the clock when their is a major injury.MrPopo wrote:I still haven't figured out why no one has introduced the recently developed technology of the "stopwatch" to the game.

I get it! It's a joke because soccer is boring.dsheinem wrote:You mean instead of just feeling like they do?ZeroAX wrote:Games would last 4 hoursMrPopo wrote:I still haven't figured out why no one has introduced the recently developed technology of the "stopwatch" to the game.
You are pushing the envelope here.

Ignoring the obvious trolls...
Stopwatching would serve what purpose? There's already a fourth ref that keeps track of all significant stoppages in play, and uses it to subjectively add to stoppage time.
Onto the round of 16! There's 9 teams that emerge from the group stages unbeaten. They are Brazil, Mexico, Netherlands, Costa Rica, Colombia, France, Argentina, Germany, and Belgium. Netherlands and Mexico are the only two of those 9 to immediately square off. Do you see any of the unbeaten teams seeing themselves going home in the round of 16?
That being said, who got out of the groups unscathed due to their groups being fairly easy, and who actually had to put in everything to get where they are?
Saturday I'm rooting for Chile!

I've watched a ton of WC matches and enjoyed them, but c'mon...all sports deserve a good ribbing!
