Or people could, you know...control their animals?

 We still have some dry counties and half-dry counties around. (Half dry means no liquor, just beer and wine.)

No. I'm in the process of talking to the corporate management of a large local pizza place here to get one of their locations to stop selling wings to go because I've known two people who have lost dogs to chicken wing bones sold by the place and every time I walk my dog she picks up at least two wings from the place. Edit I'm not coffee'd up. The wings to go are just getting eaten and thrown on the ground everywhere near the restaurant so that's why the dogs are getting to them.
We need to sue the chickens for growing wing bones that choke dogs.

Eh it's not really about control when you've got a 80+ pound dog that just stops to sniff something, ends up grabbing a wing in the grass cracks it in one bite before you realize what's going on, by then it's already to late. I'm lucky I've got a small dog so when she grabs one she just tries to bring it along with her on the walk.

Again, where is the logic in dictating what others may or may not sell/purchase? No one makes anyone buy a dog that they cannot control or forces them to take that dog for a walk near any particular restaurant.

You've decided that something is a problem and you've decided that you know better than EVERYONE else what to do about it. You do see how that comes off as arrogant, yes?

Well, that's probably more due to the content being racist, or similarly offensive in some way.

Still, if there's a known difference in content, that can be different.

The food-for-thought kind of thing is though...if a film isn't being presented in its original formatting, then it's missing content. For quite a lot of movies, the 4:3 "full frame" version is cutting out content during most of, if not the entire runtime (it goes both ways, of course).

In the VHS era, as I mentioned earlier, it was more or less a given that the standard copy was going to be edited in that way. You could go find widescreen versions of movies, but it usually meant a trip to a specialty store, and a price premium. Laserdiscs were more the enthusiast format that maintained the original picture/etc.
DVDs took over for both, so relatively few only have a cropped version, and Blu-ray is probably even moreso (though you can still get 1.33:1 content formatted to widescreen, as with the Transformers movie).

To me, it can make a couple little quick edits or something pretty minor if the choice is between the original cut, or watching the movie with 40% of the picture cropped out the entire time.

There is no dictating what they can sell. I brought up a point to them that the wings they are selling are being thrown on the ground and causing people problems with their animals, the wings they are selling as carry out items. I asked about how much they are making from the sale of carry out wings from walk in customers (which isn't much) and if it would be feasible for them to stop doing carry out for the wings, not to stop selling them all together.

I brought up a problem to them and they want to fix it. I don't understand where you finding anywhere in my posts anything about dictating things to them.

I agree they shouldn't stop selling wings, but they aren't cleaning up their parking lot like they should if bones are everywhere enough that pets got hurt. That could also hurt wild animals, strays and even humans. And if they can't keep their parking lot safe enough because of wing bones maybe they shouldn't sell them anymore.

Or how about telling the police to do something about people throwing trash (bones) around everywhere?
