Close. Infiniminer. It took them forever to acknowledge it, but they stole assets straight up at first.MrPopo wrote:We call them "Legos".Opa Opa wrote:Wasn't minecraft a clone of another block building game?
Granted Infiniminer died because the developer did not protect his code and the playerbase fragmented.

Anyone know what a decent hdmi switch would be with audio out for consoles with audio out for say speakers/headphones? I apparently wasted my time and efforts trying to find one locally...(I'm almost half tempted to even look at monitors with speakers built in and hdmi inputs like this one has(minus the speakers/audio out though unlike i want))

Thanks for that, finally something that isn't crazy expensive(since most of what I've found costs about 1.75x or more than that thing does)

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
The game industry is moving too fast, we dont need more developers, we dont need more games faster.
When someone says they are bored and are waiting for a game to come out, i just want to slap them, especially when i know people on a personal level who will wait a year for a game that is like 10-15 hours of gameplay then never touch it again.
The "indie scene" is out of control and all this "early-access alpha" shit needs to stop and i wish people would stop funding it, i mean i feel like some of these games are never going to actually be finished, like literally 1 out of 5 steam games ive never seen before and i click on them are "early-acess".
All i can do is roll my eyes and move on, one game i was waiting for was "The Forest", it had an official release date and everything, which was May 30th 2014. So here comes May 30th 2014 im pretty psyched, i goto steam and there in fucking blue "early access", so the release date isnt actually May 30th 2014, which is kinda false advertising imo.
Im starting to like the idea of the Wii U not having a large amount of games planned, lets me play catch up and enjoy the games that are out and finished, can you imagine of console games were released on disc media, but were only "early-access" versions, shitstorm incoming imo.
This could kinda be said about MGS: Ground Zero, it used to be we got something like that as a bonus with a full retail game, now your paying for a fucking demo!?.
Beta tests used to be something special you got invited too, now people are just like "TAKE MY MONEY!!!"
I wouldnt hesitate to pay to get in a Blizzard beta, but they dont have a history of that.
Not sure if anyone feels the same, but we never had this shit in the 80's and 90's, and early 00's.
inb4 "teh gaming industry is changing, cept it!"
Nope, fuck you! and fuck the change!

Also, heres a video talking about why Nintendo hardware is never bleeding edge.

Your telling me that not even for a second this doesn't look just a tad bit like Minecraft? Mind you I hadn't given this game more than a glance before yesterday. *shrugs*Stark wrote:Youngsters these days ... he should've said "This game looks like a rip-off of A Link to the Past" and instead refrences Minecraft...noiseredux wrote:3D Dot Game Heroes is like an amazing LTTP spinoff... w/ voxels.

I don't disagree with you on the early access stuff. There instances where I do support it, like with, "The Forest," having recently purchased it, but others I do not see it. It really stems from Minecraft and the format it was doing. Part of its success was getting that instant gratification for developers from people playing their game and getting feedback on how to fix things. Does that work with every developer? Absolutely not. Some games really do benefit from the input while others are silly pleas for cash grabs.
With indie developers, it also helps them by cutting costs on paying for testers. Is this morally right to do? That is up to the person.
If I really want a game and see that they are really putting time and effort to make a good game with potential, I will throw my cash at it and see if it sticks. Like I said with, The Forest, there are a lot of great details that are being put into the tribals behavior that really says, "We are trying to get this right," and I personally love the idea and presentation, so I am down to buy it.
This is a rarity and exception to the rule for me, as I do feel that the majority of games half-ass their work and put out an unfinished product with no effort to complete said product.
