Buying a house is weird. So much paperwork and bullshit involved. I keep having to ask what I'm supposed to do next. Makes me feel like an idiot, honestly.

The amount of money I'm going to have to spend on small repairs, furniture, and other fixtures is gonna add up quickly. I have a feeling I won't be making any hobby-related purchases until fall or so.

Yeah, hobbies slow down tremendously. And money gets tight. And you can't afford gas for the week. Or groceries. Or new clothes.... But! At some point you'll look back and say, it was all worth it!

The best part about a house is that you are investing in your families future. You'll have your own home that you can do whatever you want to with, as long as your wife approves.

Yep. Or you'll be stupid like me and keep making them and in a year go "Holy CRAP I need to stop"... which is (mostly) where I am now. I was solid, then renovated, now need to get solid again.

Good luck with the house though, it's kinda an awesome feeling to be a homeowner. And more than a little bit terrifying too in some ways

EDIT: Okay I think after some talks and planning I'm going to set my move in plans back a good bit and try to simply make it a goal to get to Austin by the end of the year. Gonna just have me and my girlfriend move without her mom, arrange some other stuff. This is going to work out I think.

You'll start making a list of "need to do this now" and "need to do this at some point". It's amazing how much can go on "need to do this at some point". It was three years before I had dining room furniture in my house (just ate on the couch on the coffee table, or just standing at the kitchen counter).

I figure if I can knock out one project per week I'll be golden. Chimney needs some work, front steps need to be replaced, I'm gonna put some more fill under the garage slab, basement carpet needs to go, alarm system needs to be installed, septic needs to be pumped by the fall, dad's gonna paint the house, and it goes on...

Couldn't be happier than Pooh Bear in a honey pit. If that makes no sense, I couldn't be happier than a Brontosaurus discovering a banana tree. And that makes no sense either, so I'll just say I'm happier than Mr. Reese when he put chocolate and peanut butter together.

Also bought Contra 4 for my unplayed DS and NBA 2K SomeYear with #23 on the cover for a couple of clams. Sweet deal.

Don't have the time to play either of the games tonight as I'm hosting a Tosh.0 marathon party tonight (PER REQUEST), but the thought of playing a NEW game with MJ gives me goosebumps.

Also, #23 in vidya is awesome. The first thing I did when I played 2k14: looked for a legacy Bulls team.
