I wonder if VHS had more content or DVD. VHS of course, lived much longer than DVD (30 years vs 18 years until now) .

This got me interested and I started looking. The majority are the cheesy B movies from the 80's and horror films, especially Italian ones. I guess the companies that own the rights to them don't see them as profitable enough to convert them to digital formats. On a DVD side note, I went to Biloxi a couple weeks ago and visited Jefferson Davis' house there. I was browsing the gift shop and the majority of DVD's were Civil War biopic and documentaries, as expected. Then a little farther down were about 20 copies of Song of the South, supposedly never on VHS, much less dvd. How they got it I dont know. They weren't bootleg and looked mass produced. I thought it was in bad taste to have a movie deemed so racist Disney stored it in its vault and refused to let it out in the gift shop of the house of the only President of the Confederacy.
It used to play on TV all the time in the 1980s, but having recently acquired a "novelization" of the Disney film, I can attest that it is quite offensive. That said, I would totally buy a copy of the film if I found it on DVD. The music is spectacular.

So talking about the vhs stuff, I talked to my grandmother and since her and my dad don't use it anymore she let me have this(and hope they don't realize I got curious and played "born in the USA on the turntable....sounded freaking amazing(after scaring myself because I forgot the security systems passcode for a second)):

The thing has one input setting and two outputs  This thing is freaking awesome. kinda weird that it had that but it's a sony so I'm happy :D Plus the thing still works....the only problem is figuring out a better wiring for all my systems...might be time to move the ps3, and wii u to the desk for when i do get a switch for them that allows for headphones/speakers(more likely than not headphones because those are quieter and I love my sony headphones :P).
My gameroom
My systems: NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, Wii, original gba, gba sp(001), ds lite, 3ds, vita, psp, PSone(101 model) ps2, ps3(320gb model), ps4, retron 5, and Dreamcast.

Speaking of antiquated media formats, it's funny you should mention Born in the USA vinyl's vinyl record, since it was also reportedly the first music CD ever commercially released in the United States. :P

I watched it all the time as a kid and I ain't no racist! :)

I always laugh when I go to Disneyland and ride on Splash Mountain. I wonder how many people know that's from an animated movie? Probably not many.

It did get an Academy Award for "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah"

Think less about binary systems of girl/guy or male/female. There's some gray areas in the beautiful spectrum of gender identity. AQ, I hope I'm not stepping on your toes.

Hopefully you find a decent spot in Austin soon!

Well yes, though I'd certainly say "girl" is plenty accurate. :P

I've got an application for an apartment going through right now. A bit pricier a place than I was initially shooting for, but it seems nice and I think it'll be okay.

Couldn't have said it better myself! Just like anything in life, things are rarely a binary, and gender is no different. ^_^ Oh, and there is a difference between a person's gender and sex, for the record.

I actually came out as transgender here on Racketboy a while back, but considering I never really mentioned it much after that, and that I really haven't gone out of my way to correct people here that still call me a guy, I think it didn't really stick in people's minds... -_-

Man now i'm wishing we still had the rewinder I had as a kid(at least that's what that appeared to be). I forgot how painfully slow rewinding a tape is, and having one would speed up the process whenever I do decide to watch any of the other 40 or so titles I have(and really just don't want to get the dvd/digital version for quite awhile since I've seen those occasionally and don't see the handrawn stuff I used to see in movies with those since they're "remastered"). I don't know why but "remaster"ing always makes me cringe because I can imagine the edits they've probably done to it now that I'm older :?
