This is the weirdest sentence I may have ever read.
I have a 1988 Bunn VPR that is not dripping correctly. Bought it at Goodwill for $25, knowing that if it was toast on the whole the parts would be usable on my churches 1990 VPR. Sadly, we recently found out it is too big for where our normal coffee pot sits:
Awesome. Those old commercial Bunn drippers are legit. In the future, if you want something with smaller footprint, Bonavita (Melitta) makes a fine drip brewer. I love how the Bonavita uses a showerhead drip head to evenly soak the grounds. More importantly, though, it brews at a consistent temp (roughly 205 from the head...so 202+ in the basket). Anywho, I have one and love it. Just my two pence.

Well since the Bunn died on me and the parts that I could salvage are currently being used in another Bunn, the Bonavita is now on my radar. Thanks s1mplehumar, I will take your pence and convert them to pennies.
Three new comedy vinyl pickups recently for me:
Best of the Marx Brothers - full of random songs not available anywhere from their Vaudville days.
An Evening with Groucho - Brilliance.
Roaming Reporter - Which was Don Adams precursor to Get Smart

OK, so, I'm an acquaintance with someone who is starting up his own record label. Tiger Lab Vinyl. They will be pressing vinyls of scores and soundtracks.
www.tigerlabvinyl.com
The website doesn't really have any info on it right now, just a mailing list that you can sign up for. I guess he's keeping it word of mouth for now. He told me to keep it hush hush for right now, but did give me one thing I could share...

Wicked City by Osamu Shoji, which he said will be released this summer.
He told me about a few awesome things he has planned, but like I said, this is all I can mention right now. I told him to let me know when the time comes to let the cat out of the bag.

I hope to those listening to vinyl understand the merits more than just having it be a fun "old school hobby". For example, anything pressed from digital is usually a waste of time (the only benefit would be for a different mix; perhaps one that's not brickwalled).
In a nutshell, they're usually closer to the source material than CD reissues of back in the day if it was from analog tapes. Requires quite a lot of investment in playback equipment and the like to gain the auditory benefit, though.

We've talked about "the merits" to some extent, and in this thread IIRC.

Not always. My set up is far from super audiophile quality, I've had a few instances where there was an audible difference in vinyl versus CD. Albeit, a very small difference.

Re: Anyone Collect or Still Listen to Vinyl?
I've been considering investing in some record cleaning equipment as some of my recent acquisitions have been giving off some severe surface noise that my brush isn't helping against much. Doing some searching on vinyl collectors forums has lead me to believe that a vacuum machine would perform better than a disc washer. If I had the money, I'd get me one of these. If it cost less I'd get a KAB EV-1 (which attaches to a vacuum cleaner hose), but at $170, I'd rather spend an extra 30 bucks and get the former. Speaking of things connecting to a vacuum cleaner hose, I also thought about getting this vacuum record cleaner wand which is less than 30 bucks. I will admit that it does seem silly to pay 30 bucks for this, but it's a ton cheaper than the previous options. For a little more money (or less if I win it on auction) I could get a Vac-o-Rec which appears to be a miniature version of the first machine I linked to. I have some reservations of buying something with a motor used, though.
Anyone have some advice for me? Thanks in advance.

A while back, I was gonna get a Spin Clean after seeing a guy use one in a record shop. I can't justify the ~$100 that it costs though. And I hate anytime I have to pay a premium for some mysterious special cleaning solution, which is usually just something you can make with stuff you already have in the house.
I haven't yet, but I wanted to try dish soap. Some people will rag on it, but I think the principles are fine. Soap works to lift dirt off your hands, which has groves of its own, it should work the same for the groves in a record. Dish soap can break down and lift away grease, and doesn't leave anything behind after rinsing it off (or we'd all get sick from eating off our washed dishes).
Here's an instructable that isn't bad: http://www.instructables.com/id/Cleanin ... /?ALLSTEPS
Although there's a few things I think that guy did wrong. One, use distilled water instead of tap water. That's a must. And two, that guy fully submerged his records in the water. You might not wanna do that because it could mess up the label. Instead, scroll down the comments a bit. There's a guy that pretty much made his own Spin Clean and posted a picture of it.
